Oxted is on the eastern side of Surrey, where it borders Kent. It is close to the North Downs and surrounded by beautiful countryside. As in other towns in Surrey, there is the old town - Old Oxted, which lies on one side of the busy A25, and the newer town on the other side which grew up when the railway arrived.
Old Oxted lies down in a valley, with narrow winding roads and attractive old cottages. One of these roads dives down under the A25 and comes up alongside green fields before entering the newer part of Oxted. The main town lies on the lower slopes of the Downs - the high street rising and falling along the hillside, with many of its buildings in Victorian mock-Tudor style.
Nearby villages include: Limpsfield, Hurst Green, Tandridge, Tatsfield.
Nearby beauty spots and places of interest include: Beaver Waterworld & Reptile Zoo, Godstone Farm, Haxted Mill, Limpsfield Chart, Lingfield Park Racecourse, Oxted Downs, Staffhurst Wood & Hever Castle (in Kent).
