There are two public parks in the village where vehicles can be
parked safely. One on Gartside Street, directly behind the scene of
the contest, however, obviously vehicles need to be parked here early
and it is difficult to leave during the contest itself. The other is
at the point where bands alight from their coaches, in Millgate,
Delph. The area is well populated by bands, pedestrians and Police
during the evening; therefore your vehicle is perfectly safe.
Additional parking is provided by kind permission of R.Gledhill and
Company at the rear of Valley Mills, situated on 'The Sound' the main
approach road to the village. This parking is accessed via
Saddleworth Business Centre, entrance just to the right of Delph
crossroads. This large car park is specially floodlit for the evening
the Police horses are also based in this area. Facilities for coach
parking can also be found here. 'Supporters' coaches can be parked
for the evening, or those of bands wishing to finish at Delph and
stay to listen to the rest of the contest. We do request that bands
wanting to play at Delph and then stay on to listen for the rest of
the evening leave their coaches, either on this park, or drive
through the village and park in a spot designated to them by the
Police on duty.
