This friendly between England and Jamaica was played on 3 June 2006 at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium at 2.00pm (BST - British Summer Time). It was England's last warm before the World Cup 2006 begins and will be remembered for Peter Crouch scoring a hat-trick and doing the "robot" dance when he scored..

England's line up was:

                                                        Paul Robinson
                                                        (David James 46)

Jamie Carragher                      Rio Ferdinand         John Terry                    Ashley Cole
(Sol Campbell 32)        (Wayne Bridge 34)

David Beckham (captain)        Steven Gerrard             Frank Lampard              Joe Cole
(Aaron Lennon 67)                (Stewart Downing 77)    (Michael Carrick 67)

                                       Michael Owen             Peter Crouch

Subs not used: Hargreaves, P Neville, Dawson, Jenas, Defoe, Walcott, Johnson, Carson, Foster

The team from Jamaica was Ricketts, Reid, Davis, Stewart, Daley, Hue (Johnson 85), Taylor (Crawford 46), Euell (Stephenson 80), Campbell-Ryce, Shelton (Burton 48), Fuller (Bennett 76)

The England manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson did not give any team selection surprises for his last friendly game before going to Germany and the England team was as predicted. Jamie Carragher replaced Gary Neville at right back as he had a slight hamstring strain.

Lampard scores the first goal for England

Jamaica started strongly but it was England that were 2-0 up after only 16 minutes. The first goal game from a Paul Robinson free kick in England's half that Peter Crouch headed on to Michael Owen - from near the goal line Owen kicked the ball back into the centre of the penalty area and Frank Lampard was there to put the ball into the net.

The second goal came from a David Beckham free kick out on the left wing - Beckham hit a great ball into the penalty box and under pressure from several players Jermaine Taylor headed the ball into his own net.

Ricardo Fuller then forced an excellent save from Paul Robinson after a missed clearance from John Terry.

After 29 minutes England were 3-0 up. From a David Beckham corner the 6 foot 7 inch Peter Crouch volleyed the ball into the net via a deflection off Omar Daley.

Owen goes round the goalkeeper and scores England's fourth goal

Two minutes later England went 4-0 up. Rio Ferdinand played an excellent ball through to Michael Owen who had beaten the offside trap - he went round the goalkeeper and casually put the ball into the net to score his first goal for England since returning from injury.

Sol Campbell then replaced John Terry (pulled hamstring) after 32 minutes and Wayne Bridge replaced Ashley Cole a couple of minutes later as he had a thigh injury. Shelton almost took advantage of these changes and managed a shot just past the post after 36 minutes. Shelton and Fuller then had good long range shots for Jamaica at the end of the first half that just missed the target.

David James replaced Peter Robinson as goalkeeper for the second half. Joe Cole put a chance just wide after 56 minutes and then forced Ricketts into a good save after 64 minutes of the match.

Carragher crosses for Crouch (left of picture) to tap in         Crouch doing his "robot" dance

Two minutes later right back Jamie Carragher overlapped David Beckham, received the ball from him and hit the ball across the goal to give Crouch an easy tap in to make the score 5-0.

Crouch then missed a penalty after Owen was brought down by Stephenson in the penalty box after 81 minutes but he did get his hat-trick seven minutes later - from a Stewart Downing cross on the left wing, Owen gave the ball to Crouch on the edge of the penalty area and he struck the ball accurately to the goalkeepers left just inside the post.

Jamaica pushed up the pitch when in possession and were unlucky not to get a goal but they did not close down very well when chasing the ball.

Who played well:  Peter Crouch got a hat-trick and had his best game for England. He also appears to have developed a good understanding with Michael Owen which should be important for the upcoming World Cup. Several other England players did well including David Beckham (with his accurate crosses), Michael Owen (played 90 minutes and scored a goal too), Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Frank Lampard. David James and Michael Carrick were the best of the substitutes.

Who could have played better: Aaron Lennon came on for his full England debut but did not repeat his excellent performance against Belarus - however when England win 6-0 there are no weak performances by any England player.
