Group A - the actual final
table was Denmark first, then Senegal, then Uruguay and France last so the
prediction for this group was totally incorrect - but who could have
predicted this group!!! World Champions
France got a shock 1-0 defeat to Senegal at the start
of the tournament and never recovered. Senegal did much better than expected as
they also drew against Denmark and Uruguay (apologies for underrating them in
the prediction).
GROUP B
Paraguay v South Africa 3 1

Group B - the actual final
table was Spain, then Paraguay, then South Africa, then Slovenia so the
final table prediction was correct. South Africa did almost qualify second
in this group as they drew with Paraguay and finished up with the same number of
points as them (4 points).
GROUP C
Brazil v Turkey 2 0
Ulsan | Mon 3 June | 10.00 BST

Group C - the actual final
table was Brazil, then Turkey, then Costa Rica, then China so the final
table prediction got the third and fourth placed teams the wrong way round.
China were predicted to beat Costa Rica 2-0 when in fact Costa Rica beat them
2-0. Costa Rica were unlucky not to qualify as they were very strong in the
tournament and drew 1-1 with Turkey too.
GROUP D

Group D - the actual final
table was South Korea, then USA, then Portugal, then Poland so the final
table prediction was incorrect in placing Portugal top when they came third in
the group. Portugal went 3-0 down to the USA early on in their first game
but almost managed a draw (they finally lost 3-2). Although Portugal then beat
Poland 4-0, they were reduced to 9 men in their final game against South Korea
and lost 1-0 (although they had chances at the end of the game to get the draw
they needed to qualify). South Korea looked very good at the group stage.

Group E - the actual final
table was Germany, then Republic of Ireland, then Cameroon, then Saudi
Arabia so the final table prediction was correct. Cameroon beat Saudi
Arabia 1-0 and drew with Ireland 1-1 and so did beat
the predicted results but still came third in the table.

Group F - the actual final
table was Sweden, then England, then Argentina, then Nigeria. England would
have come top of the group but only managed a 0-0
draw in their final game against Nigeria (having
beaten Argentina 1-0
and drawn with Sweden 1-1).
Congratulations to Sweden who topped the group - bad luck Argentina!!!

Group G - the actual final
table was Mexico, then Italy, then Croatia, then Ecuador so Mexico came
two places better than predicted. Italy lost 2-1 to Croatia (although they
were not happy with the refereeing on the day) but still qualified in second
place. Mexico beat Croatia 1-0, beat Ecuador 2-1 and drew 1-1 with Italy to
deservedly come top of the group.
