England's final World Cup 2006 group game is against Sweden on Tuesday 20 June 2006 at Cologne, Germany at 8.00pm (BST - British Summer Time). Click here to see the World Cup screen chart for every group's fixtures and results and click here to see where England's games will be held on a map.

England beat Paraguay 1-0 and then beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 to qualify for the second round. Sweden only drew with Trinidad and Tobago 0-0 but then beat Paraguay 1-0 with a late goal so they would finish top of the group if they beat England.

England have played Sweden many times before, the last time being a 1-0 loss in a friendly in Gothenburg, Sweden on 31 March 2004. Ibramhimovic got the only goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. The last time England played Sweden in a competitive match was on 2 June 2002 when England drew Sweden 1-1 in their opening match of the World Cup 2002.

Sweden only need a point to qualify for the second round and even if they lose 1-0 they would go through to the second round (in second place) unless Trinidad and Tobago beat Paraguay by two goals. A draw would send England through top of the group with Sweden second while a Swedish victory would make them group winners with England runners up in the group.

In the second round the winners of this group play the second placed team in group A with the second placed team playing the Group A winners. At the moment, Ecuador are top of Group A and Germany are second so Germany would need to beat Ecuador in their last group match to top Group A. If Germany draw or lose this match they are certain to be second in Group A. The final Group A positions will be known before England kick off against Sweden.

So here is who England could play in the second round:

IF GERMANY FAIL TO BEAT ECUADOR (on 20 June 2006 at 3pm)
England v Germany (if England beat Sweden)
England v Germany (if England draw with Sweden)
England v Ecuador (if England lose to Sweden)

Like England, Sweden has created plenty of chances in their last two World Cup games but have found it hard to score from them. Marcus Allback has improved Sweden's attacking options when he has come on as substitute in the last two games and could well start in this match in place of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. News from the Sweden management has also indicated that Ibrahimovic may not be fit to start from the start.

Sweden's line up could be: Isaksson, Linderoth, Mellberg, Lucic, Edman, Ljungberg, Alexandersson, Kallstrom, Wilhelmsson, Allback, Larsson

It is possible that England will rest some players in their last group match as they have already qualified for the second round (especially if Germany fail to beat Ecuador). However the England manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson may consider that to keep winning and improve confidence is more important.

Could Theo Walcott play some part against Sweden?

Peter Crouch has got six goals in his last five games and is England's striker in form but he did pick up a yellow card in the first game. Either Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney should start alongside him but as both Owen and Rooney need games they could start together. England's seventeen year old striker Theo Walcott may also play some part in this match.

Gary Neville has a calf muscle tear and will miss this game so Jamie Carragher or Owen Hargreaves could play as right back if Eriksson wants to start with a 4-4-2 formation. Neville may also miss the second round match the following weekend.

With Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch on yellow cards they would miss the second round match if they picked up a booking in this match (otherwise the yellow cards they received would be cancelled). Eriksson said that he did not have to risk all three and Owen Hargreaves may stand in for Steven Gerrard.

On 18 June Eriksson said that Rooney will start and play for at least an hour. Michael Owen will probably start alongside him as he needs games and Peter Crouch is on a yellow card.

With Eriksson perhaps resting some players this England line up is difficult to predict but could be:

                                                           Paul Robinson

Jamie Carragher                    John Terry                 Rio Ferdinand                     Ashley Cole

David Beckham (Capt)             Frank Lampard          Owen Hargreaves                Joe Cole

                                            Wayne Rooney             Michael Owen
