The World Cup trophy shown above was used from 1974 onwards - before this the Jules Rimet World Cup trophy (shown below) was presented to the winners of the World Cup. Jules Rimet was the FIFA president in 1929 when the FIFA General congress passed a vote to create the World Cup competition.
