MISCELLANEOUS
Somebody with a lot of time on their hands has made (rather well) an ASCII version of StarWars episode IV. Its not quite finished, but its very interesting to watch. Actually there is quite an ascii following with regard to ASCII games, ASCII tools and applications. Its so pure! :-) Another version (albeit not in ASCII) of Star Wars comes in the form of Star Dudes. This is a flash animation of the film which is well worth seeing if you have a flash enabled browser. The entire trilogy has been remade if you visit Dude Studios. Here you will find The Phantom Dude, The Bad Dudes Strike Back and other such classics.
JETPAC - THE RETURN
JetPac was a stupidly simple game involving several platforms, a guy in a space suit and a rocket pack and bits of his rocket all over the place.
The aim of the game was to collect parts of the rocket and assemble it, then fill it with fuel (which started dropping from the top of the screen once the rocket was assembled).
Once the rocket was full of fuel you could take off to get to the next level.
There were however asteroids and aliens etc. to deal with all the time, with each level becoming progressively more difficult.
Using SDL I am trying to make a new version for Linux and Windows 9x/2000 with better graphics and hopefully more interesting levels. Currently there is a download available with a couple of levels, but nothing too great. This game is available under the GNU GPL from the Jetpac - The Return web site.

GERMAN
I spent a year working in Germany in 2002 and needed to learn some German quickly. Although my german skills are quite limited I did make a grammar reference page which I found quite useful. This has mainly been for my own personal use, but as it might be useful I thought it may as well go onto my home page. Currently this document only has the very basic grammar for the language, but is useful for refreshing ones memory :-)

TRAVEL
I enjoy travelling very much, and have had the opportunity to visit some very interesting places. One place that has been particularly memorable was a recent trip to Brazil where I enjoyed a couple of weeks in the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro and then 10 days in the Amazon region. During this time I stayed in a lodge and went camping and trecking into the forest. I was lucky enough to see spider monkeys, toucans, tarantulas and quite a few snakes!!
I took lots of photos (including the one to the right of two Macaws) which I hope presently to make into a seperate page detailing where I went and how I went about doing it. If you're interested in making a similar trip it might be useful.
Resources that I use when planning a trip are lonely planet and hostel world which can be useful for finding accomodation.
