The space is like a glass house, appearing small and precious like a museum within the extensive office space. The building was being refurbished after the bombing of Bishopsgate.

Inside this ‘glass house’ the space soared up over two floors to a view of the Nat West tower through the glass roof at the top. From the fourth floor you are able to look down into the space.
The story of the Phoenix rising from the ashes seemed an appropriate metaphor for both the building and the feel of the space. The loneliness of the space became in my imagination a playground for two rising birds.
There is a tension and power that comes from the counterpoint between the two heavy metal arcs supported by the apparent fragility of the silk.
