LANDING

Commissioned by J. P. Morgan Investment
for the atrium space at

83 Pall Mall. London. UK. 1996

The atrium spanned six floors of office space with light from
a lantern roof streaming into a narrow well.
With gantries at every level it appeared quite oppressive.

The kite like pieces form a double spiral cascading into the darker area at the lower floors to bring movement, light and airiness into the building. The idea evolved from a flight over a hot landscape wherein a single cloud hovers on the earth below.

There are ten pieces, each 3.20 metres at the longest point, forming this  spiral made from painted silk organza. From each floor there are different  perspectives of the whole,
which then become reflected into the surrounding windows.
