The design concept for Snaps evolved during a three-week residency at the school.
The idea of using a filmstrip became a vehicle to express the experience of being a visitor in Oundle. A visitor suggests someone who glances into another slice of life, becomes involved for a time but is apart, an observer.
The atmosphere of the place becomes a curious collage of overlapping images and emotions: the ordinary can become extraordinary when condensed into a series of impressions, received through the senses.

The spiral shape gave a sense of movement up into the stairwell of the cloister where it was finally placed.

Size: there are sixteen frames in all measuring approximately 17.00 metres and 1.00 metres wide.
The framework is made of painted mild steel.
The images are painted on silk organza using procion dyes.
