Coach House Blues
PATCHWORK AND QUILTING WORKSHOP
FULL WEEK

A workshop of basic techniques in patchworking and quilting with the theme of Coach House Blues (it
is possible some of the students will have attended a Shibori course and will have some cloth already prepared for this week
- otherwise packs of prepared fabric will be available at cost from your tutor).
Day 1 Arrival at tea time or in time for supper to meet your fellow quilters and discuss skills. This course
will cater for beginners as well as skilled patchworkers. Books, patterns and fabrics will be
available for study in the evening.
Day 2 A morning to explore the local area. Haweswater is close by for walks, waterfalls and possibly eagles
and red squirrels. This is good thinking time to decide on your project. The theme is Coach House
Blues. Quick piecing methods may be employed, help and advice are at hand.
Day 3 A visit to Just Sew in Penrith to buy fabric threads and equipment if required and the rest of the day
is spent in starting your project. Expert help available.
Day 4 An outing to Caldbeck -John Peel's grave is in the churchyard - and Dalston to visit the cotton wool
factory - wadding is very cheap to buy.
Day 5 Hard work today to finish the bulk of your piecing but time for a walk in the evening and supper in
the local pub.
Day 6 Baste fabric and wadding together in preparation for quilting. Decide on quilting patterns and
methods. Evening walk possible.
Day 7 Departure before 12 noon.

Themed Coach House Blues packs of fabric at £ 7.50.
2 irons and ironing board
2 rotary cutters
2 mats

2 sewinq machines
