The 'Works Manual' Links
Works manual? The Bible? eh?? -
well, the manual for a piece of equipment contains all the maker's instructions
and recomendations on how to use it. The
Bible is the maker's (i.e. God's) instruction
book for people - you and me. It's our 'works
manual'.
If you don't believe me, do some reading. The 4 gospels (books called
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John after their authors) are a good place to start. Go
for a modern translation - the NIV (New International
Version) is very popular and well accepted. Oh, and do ask God to help
you understand what you're reading.

Background Info Online
Download Bible Software
All these links refer to The Word, a
piece of software from the Online Bible
people. This is good, free-download software for Mac and PC. It is available in
many language versions in addition to English.
- many (mostly older) English Bible versions are free to download - BBE
/ KJV / YLT &tc
- there are also a good few modern translations that require unlocking
(££s / $$s / etc.) - NASB / NIV / NLB &tc
There is a vast collection of background literature available as
well.
Download the Bible
It's usually a better idea to download some bible software -
gives the ability to do complex searching, compare versions, link to reference
books, and other things. That said, here are some links.

Here's what the various version abbreviations stand for. I've no
intention whatsoever of getting involved in the question of which is best on
this page.

About This Page
This page has two reasons for existing
- to provide me with useful references when I'm away from my own
PC
- to allow others to benefit from the time I've spent hunting around
the net
Hence it is a personal selection - what I think are some of the
highlights of what's available on the web ...
- inclusion implies I think the linked page is OK
(though I may not agree with everything on the site).
- exclusion implies nothing ... to list everything
would make the page too big to be useful or maintainable.
If there's anything really good that I'm missing (or dud links), please
email me.
