Loughrigg Terrace and Spedding Crag

Started at: Badger Bar, Rydal
This was our second walk in a month in our favourite area and again the weather was dry. However, it was bitterly cold.
Leaving the Badger Bar we crossed the road and crossed the bridge over the River Rothay and on to Loughrigg Terrace. Much of the path was covered in slush after the recent heavy snowfalls. The views over Rydal Water and Grasmere were superb with the snow covered mountains beyond. After a short section of road walking where we passed High Close YH we we back on the fells and gaining height. The Langdale Valley suddenly appeared with good views across to Lingmoor Fell and the Crinkles. Under foot the snow was getting much deeper (6-8 inches) and in some places 15 inches. We plodded on to the top of Spedding Crag and decided not to continue on to Silver How but rather make a decent and walk the shore path along Grasmere back to Rydal.
A lovely walk.
