Keep It Simple Stupid!

Take this website. I have been told by my wife's uncle who is a programmer, that it is a very simple site. He went on to say that it was meant as a statement of praise.
You will notice that there are no frames or drop-down menus. The reason for this is that I do not require them. Their inclusion would be gratuitous. No interactive Q&A section. This would require activation of Front Page Extensions for which a monthly fee would be payable. Parting with cash somehow goes against the grain when there is no need. If you my readers want to tell me something then I am sorry but you will have to go to a small amount of effort to do so. I apologize for the email now being in the form of a graphic instead of text but we can blame the spammers for that. They use software to trawl websites for every email address they can find. For example if I type someone@anywhere.isp.co.uk then this address will be automatically found, the address sold on and then spammed. Hopefully this address does not actually exist.

Background

The background has been commented on. I could of just copied one from any one of many free web creator kits but I wanted to make my own. I took a piece of paper and screwed it up into a ball. Flattened it out and screwed it up again. This was repeated several times until I got a fine texture. Scanned in and tinted with PaintShop Pro. Finally a small square was copied and pasted as a new image. Kept small to minimize the download time. This  image was then used as the background. The web editor automatically tiles the background to fill the screen.

Text

I just use Arial because it is universally found on just about any computer. That way there is no danger of it looking strange because it displays as a default font.
It is large and bold so as to make it easier for people with less than perfect eye-sight.

Buttons

The buttons are large for similar reasons.

URL

The web address could be simpler. If I had my own domain name but as I have already mentioned, I have no intention of needlessly spending money. So I just use the free web space that I got with the email account.

View Options

The screen is optimized for 800 x 600 with text set to medium. It may look a little odd and the arrows have a tendency to wander at higher resolutions. I try not to let things like that worry me.
