Yate Sodbury and District Community Transport

YSDCT was launched in September 1989 having been set up as a Limited Company and registering with the Industrial & Provident Society. This gave the organisation charitable status and was common practice for Community Transport Groups at that time.

YSDCT did not own a vehicle at the start but operated by brokering vehicles from five different groups. Two of the vehicles were fully accessible, the other three were standard 14/16 seat minibuses.

All the volunteer drivers undertook driver training and assessment and the vehicles ran under section 19 permits from Avon County Council and at the end of the first six months the Organisation had 22 User Groups and had transported a total of 2766 passengers.

Over the 11 years that we have been operating things have changed as we have amended our services to meet the ever-changing demand of the local community.
