Yate Sodbury and District Community Transport

Ring and Ride Bus Service

This is a trial service until end Mar 2001 set up by a grant from the government Rural Bus Challenge.

Any individual who lives in our area and is unable to use conventional public transport for whatever reason, can use the service which is booked by the individual the day before they wish to travel.We work on first come first served basis, with the booking line open between 10.00 - 12.00, Monday - Friday.

The charges are based on a zone system, which the passengers like, as it is easy to understand and simple to administrate. All of the journeys must have a "rural" element under the terms of the grant but as the area surrounding Yate is classed as rural this has not been a major problem. We are currently unable to transport Yate residents to a destination within the Yate boundary on this scheme.

During the trial we have been providing 500 journeys a month, with over 700 users registered on the system.
