| The two sprues contain a (for the size of the model impressive) total
of 79 parts moulded in light grey, while three more clear parts comprise
the bubble canopy and separate doors. The engine is built up form 13 separate pieces and includes shifts, exhausts and piping, all in finely detailed parts. Next comes the cockpit, consisting of a floor, one part for the double seats, sticks, rudders and cyclic controls, and a three-part central instrument column. This assembly mates with a two-part forward fuselage, to which are added a searchlight and other parts. The aft fuselage tubing (in seven parts) is next, to which the fuel tanks, stabilisers, various antennae, tail rotor (two types) and skids (with separate wheels) are attached. Then it's time to add the four pars that form the main rotor assembly, and all that is needed to have an OH-13 on your bench is the canopy, with the possibility to add the doors. Should you wish to add some punch to this puny 'copter, two pallets in two styles with either one what looks like an M60 gun or two machine guns, each with separate ammo belts/guiding chute parts are provided as well. The small decal sheet features sober markings for three US Army machines, all in Vietnam. The only individuality of these, however, is in the serial. All in all: a great little kit of a subject that should have been covered by a major company years ago. Thumbs up to Italeri! |
