For all you Joysticks completists, here's the whole story of the band to date (for a complete gig list, click here). NJoy!

Summer 1999, Chelynch, England

Nick Joy, veteran of the Kilburn pub circuit, decides it's time to revive his singing career. Few people are convinced but undeterred by this Nick recruits guitarist Dave Stevens and bass player Andy Stevens as backing musicians.

A lead guitarist is also recruited but this doesn't work out and the band continue as a three piece until Matt Sargent joins in September. The band make an impromptu appearance at the local folk club and shortly afterwards entertain at a wedding celebration.

Winter 1999/2000, Chelynch, England

The band appear twice, to popular approval, at the Poachers Pocket. Drumming duties are performed by the superb, if supposedly retired, ex-Doreen Doreen sticksman Paul.

Summer 2000, Castle Cary, England

The increasingly popular Nick Joy and the Joysticks appear at the Castle Cary Music Festival 2000. Two weeks later they are back, this time headlining at the town's Street Party. Drummer both times is the excellent Bill from our good friends the Crunchy Dumplings, Somerset's premier R&B act.

Late Summer 2000, Shepton Mallet, England

With Paul back on the drum stool the band perform two superb sets at the Charlton Inn. Mad Dave Stevens goes AWOL after the gig, leaving the band in a state of flux.

Winter 2000/2001, Chelynch, England

Back on home ground, the band re-group. A new, more aggressive sound is decided upon and rehearsals begin again. Bill joins the band full-time.

Suffering with voice problems, Nick calls it a day. Bristol Diva Jay Hutton joins the band and Mad Dave Stevens returns to the fold. The new line up go down a storm at the annual Poacher's Pocket Christmas bash and at the February Doulting Bells Appeal event.
