The two most important qualifications we offer are ABTAC (ABTA Travel Agents Certificate) and ABTOC (ABTA Tour Operators Certificate). We offer both of these courses at Primary and Advanced Levels. Our courses are designed for you to work from the comfort of your own home, at your own pace and to take the exam (which is normally available three times a year) only when you are ready to do so.

ABTAC (Travel Agents)

If you wish to become a travel agent, travel consultant or work from home, then you should take the ABTAC course.

Primary Level

• This is aimed at those wishing to enter the travel industry. It is assumed you have not worked in the industry before, and the study books start from the beginning.

Advanced Level

• This is for those that have passed the Primary Level or have in the past worked in the travel industry. Those wishing for management positions should consider this level.

At both levels, you will learn about the travel industry, travel geography, holiday insurance, car hire, foreign currency, holiday costings, administration and finance. The subjects are similar for both levels, but the knowledge for the advanced qualification is obviously greater.

ABTOC (Tour Operators)

Should you wish to work for, or as, a tour operator then you should take the ABTOC course.

Some of the topics studied are similar to the above course, but further additional modules such as travel documentation, emergency situations and marketing are included.

Primary Level

• aimed for those wishing to work for a tour operator. The self-study manuals start right from the beginning.

Advanced Level

• aimed at the more experienced travel staff or those looking for a management/proprietor job.

All these courses are based on "open book" examinations which mean that all notes, study books, atlases, tutor notes can be taken in and used during the exam.

We endeavour to make arrangements for students to sit the exam at a regional college as near as possible to where they live as an 'external' candidate. However as colleges can change policy regarding exam entrants, no final arrangements can be made until nearer the actual exam date. Please be advised that ultimately it may be necessary for students to take the exam at our Lincolnshire exam centre.

Overseas students are very welcome to study but it cannot be guaranteed that the exam can be taken within your country. Please contact us to clarify arrangements prior to the commencement of your studies
