Introduction:-
Welcome to K9Z, the dog orientated website with a difference. Launched on the 1st of March 2001, K9Z is a site that focusses, not on all types of dogs, but something more special. We represent the often understated "crossbreed and mongrel" dogs of this world. Indeed these furry friends are truely undervalued, being that they are often deemed "second rate" to their pedigree counterparts. Here at K9Z things are completely different, the tables are turned, crossbreeds and mongrels are officially "at the top", and this site sets out to prove just that ! If you own a crossbreed or mongrel dog, why not join forces with us and become part of all the fun by becoming a member (which is completely free).
Crossbreed, Mongrel or Pedigree:-
Everyone knows what a pedigree dog is, but where crossbreeds and mongrels differ is a matter that often causes confusion. Are they the same thing ? Well, the answer to that is, quite frankly, no. A crossbreed dog is produced when BOTH parents are pedigree dogs, but are of different breed types. A mongrel dog is produced when either one, or both parents is a crossbreed. Of course, this "classing" should be taken very lightly, so as to cause our canine friends no offence !
With this classing comes an unfortunate "stigma" that a crossbreed or mongrel dog is in some way not as good as a pedigree. Whoever sees crossbreeds and mongrels as just canines with huge tails, giraffe like necks and eyes that look in opposite directions, is obviously walking around wearing blinkers. It is narrow minded opinions such as these that have given "bad publicity" to non-pedigree dogs. In actual fact it is closer to the truth to say that many crossbreed and mongrel dogs are a lot more pleasing to the eye than their pedigree rivals !
K9Z Dog Database:-
K9Z members details are added to the Dog Database, which has already proved a valuable tool for people seeking information on a particular cross type, which is why we desperately want as many members as possible so as to provide visitors to the site with the most extensive database possible.
Dog Of The Week & Dog Of The Year:-
Members are encouraged to enter the "K9Z Dog Of The Week" competition by submitting details and a story on their dogs. The winner will have a page dedicated to their pet set up for others to see, and their picture will be featured for the week on the main K9Z page. Click here for further information on entering. Dog Of The Week is also an excellent way to promote your site as all photos shown can act as direct links to your own website.
Once you have been featured in Dog Of The Week, you are automatically put forward into the final for the Dog Of The Year contest. K9Z have donated an engraved trophy, certificate and super rosette for their favourite entrant (to be judged on visual appeal and story content). There is a prize and special rosette for the dog that scores most highly in our on-line voting system, plus rosettes for the runners up. The rosettes are super and are certainly worth winning, and the cup is wonderful. The crunch line is, if you don't enter, you can't win, so get those entries in to us before all the places are taken.
