Whisky Of Glenshee:-

31/12/01 - Following Whisky's win as this years ultimate Champion, Dog Of The Year 2001, here for you all to see is a wonderful picture showing Whisky with her winning cup and rosette. We loved this picture as the rosette is almost bigger than Whisky herself !

Below are the comments from Whisky's owners, which we thought other members might like to read:-

Thank you so much. We are absolutely stunned and delighted that Whisky has won as there were so many lovely dogs in the competition. It is a real feather in the cap of the SSPCA at Petterden (on the outskirts of Dundee) and I hope to be able to publicise this to help them get publicity in an effort to rehome more unfortunate waifs and strays. There is absolutely no need to buy dogs these days as so many need homes. Every dog who is rescued and its rescuer is a star particularly the people who persevere with difficult dogs who have behavioural problems through no fault of their own. Whisky has a lovely nature but still has a major problem with gunfire but I am sure she feels secure in her own home.

The cup has just arrived and it really is absolutely splendid. Whisky was very excited as it took my husband David about 10 minutes to get into the packaging as it was so well wrapped up. We should have taken a photo of the dog sitting on a chair at the table watching the proceedings with great excitement. She has already had a chew. We have bottle of fizzy on ice ready for tomorrow night when she always goes next door to the pub so celebrations will ensue.

We will keep you all posted as we receive other photos from the runners up - watch this space ! For more information on what K9Z aims as an organisation are, see our ABOUT K9Z page. K9Z hopes you've enjoyed your visit and looks forward to seeing you at the site again soon.

Dog Of The Year:-

24/12/01 - This month has been a very busy time at K9Z, deciding the winner of the Dog Of The Year competition. All dogs were of a very high standard and they were all wonderful, which made judging this event incredibly difficult! In the end we narrowed things down to a lucky 8, and from there we went on to place the dogs in their final positions. K9Z would like to thank everyone for entering the competition which has been a great deal of fun for all concerned.

The Results are as follows:-

First Prize, Ultimate champion goes to Whisky of Glenshee, an outstanding Collie x Jack Russell x Whippet.
Reserve Champion goes to Jack, a very handsome Labrador x Akita.
Third Prize goes to the beautiful Salsa, an Australian Cattledog x Beagle.
Fourth Prize goes to Dizzy, a very pretty Border Collie x German Shepherd.
Fifth Prize goes to Tetley, a stunning German Shepherd cross.
Sixth Prize goes to Sunny, a super looking German Shepherd x Collie x Chow.
Special, Very Highly Commended's go to both Ella, a very smart looking Australian Shepherd x Sharpei and Forrest, a lovely Sharpei cross.

Results of the on-line competition will be announced shortly. Keep your eyes peeled here at K9Z for new competitions coming in the New Year.

LASTLY, HAVE A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR !

Dizzy at Xmas:-

17/12/01 - I think all K9Z members will have to agree that Dizzy really is a beautiful cross. She is pictured here in her Christmas attire and she really does look very smart and festive.

We have now chosen the winners for Dog Of The Year, and all concerned have been notified. Next weeks feature will show just who did win, so watch this space !

Best Snow Shot:-

10/12/01 - The winner of this weeks snow shot is the lovely Barney. He really looks at home out in the cold snow. Thanks to all the other members that sent in pictures. Choosing wasn't easy and they were all nice. Barney's winning rosette will be despatched shortly.

Next week K9Z will be announcing the most important news of the year. The official winner of this years Dog Of The Year contest. If you haven't yet looked at the super dogs that have entered, please take the time to do so. I think we will all be up all night long choosing which dog deserves to win the prestigious title. The picture below shows some of the prizes that are up for grabs!

Christmas Festivities:-

03/12/01 - Christmas is rapidly approaching. Here in England we have already had the first snow of the season. The wonderful photo above shows K9Z member Jade, a Labrador x Golden Retriever from Australia, who is well into the Christmas spirit as she proudly shows off her new toy !

Coming up shortly, at the beginning of December, is the annual judging of Dog Of The Year competition, by K9Z. The winner of Dog Of The Year will be sent their trophy (and the runners up their rosettes) as soon as judging takes place. The results will appear on-line shortly afterwards. The on-line voting scheme will stop mid December, when all the dogs have been shown on-line and a small prize will be sent to the lucky winner.

If you have a picture that you feel would be suitable to appear on the K9Z homepage, please e-mail it to us, and show all K9Z site visitors just how special your pet is.

The Look Of Love:-

26/11/01 - Last week, we featured a super little dog called Barney, and his owner, so delighted sent us in another picture, which we couldn't resist but display to you all as well. The concentration on these dogs faces is wonderful and it really made us all smile.

Barney is pictured in the middle, with Wallace on the left and his other friend Oakey on the right.

The three amigos are inseperable and love to visit each other and play for hours. They even go on holiday together!

We are told that their Granny is keeping them transfixed for this photo with a well placed biscuit ! It certainly did the trick !

If you have a picture that you feel would be suitable to appear on the K9Z homepage, please e-mail it to us, and show all K9Z site visitors just how special your pet is.

Notice Of The Week - Scruffts Final at Earls Court:-

19/11/01 - This years Scruffts final was held at the Discover Dogs show at Earls Court, on Sunday the 4th of November. The following is an article on the event taken directly from the Discover Dogs website where further information on the event can be found.

The Pal Scruffts final was the big event for the Sunday. It was judged by TV star Ricky Tomlinson and June Minns, Kennel Club Member and saw all of the regional winners fight it out for this prestigious accolade of the year. The competition is in association between The Kennel Club and Pedigree, Pal and has raised over £8,000 for the National Canine Defence League.

Kati, owned by Mrs Daphne Greenall Eastbourne, East Sussex was the winner of the Family Dog of the Year prize after winning the prettiest bitch heat.

Like many of the other dogs in the final, Katie has an incredible history. Not only was Kati abandoned at a young age but she did the impossible and survived horrendous injuries after being thrown under a jugernaught. She now only has 3 legs as a result of the accident. Says owner Mrs Daphne Grenall: "Kati has been to hell and back but can still smile with the best of them. She’s a very brave dog indeed."

Said Ricky Tomlinson: It is great to see so many family dogs recognised by this event and so much money raised for such a worthy cause. I fell in love with Kati as soon as she came into the ring a real dog with a very heart warming story.

The heats for Pal Scruffts have taken place right throughout the year and all of the winners competed at the grand final at Earls Court. There were 4 qualifying classes at the final: Handsomest Cross-breed Dog, Prettiest Cross-breed Bitch, Best Cross-breed Rescue and The Cross-breed The Judge Would Most Like To Take Home. For more information about next year’s competition then have a look at the Scruffts Website.

Barney, A Dedicated Follower Of Fashion:-

12/11/01 - Here at K9Z we like to show our visitors some of the wonderful pictures that get sent through to us by our members.

Barney, a terrier cross, shows just how trendy and cool he is sporting his shades whilst laying out in the sun. Barney who started life as an unwanted puppy, advertised in a local paper has grown up into a super dog say his owners. He loves giving everyone kisses and cuddles.

If you have a picture that you feel would be suitable to appear on the K9Z homepage, please e-mail it to us, and show all K9Z site visitors just how special your pet is.

All K9Z Dogs Are Special:-

05/11/01 - Since our launch in March earlier this year, we have seen some really super looking non-pedigree dogs. From the very young, at just days/weeks old, to those who are in their teenage years. They are all truely special and we are proud of them all.

Initially it was hard to predict what sort of response K9Z would get from non-pedigree dog lovers, but we never thought there would be so many joining in such a short space of time. In little over six months we have grown to a membership base in the hundreds, which is super.

So much can already be learned by browsing through the dog database at the various crosses, and remarkably there have been many dogs that have been matched up with a *twin* somewhere else in the world, which is amazing in itself.

If you have a non-pedigree dog, please join our happy little club and add your dogs details to our ever-growing source of information for all to see.

Notice Of The Week - Scruffts Final:-

29/10/01 - The much awaited UK crossbreed event of the year is upon us: The Pal Scruffts Final will be judged by Ricky Tomlinson from BBC's 'Royle Family'. Finalists for this competition have entered in one of the 20 heats that have taken place all over the country throughout the year to compete for the prestigious title, 'Family Dog of the Year'.

The Pal Scruffts Final will be held at Earls Court at the Discover Dogs Show on Sunday the 4th of November, commencing at 2pm (the show is also running on the Saturday as well). Tickets are available on the door, prices quoted on the website are £7.50 for adults and £4.50 for children (although we are not sure whether these will be the same on the day).

Discover Dogs say that "The show has so much to offer with over 180 different breeds of pedigree dog to meet and greet. From Great Danes to Yorkshire Terriers. People will you will be able to find out exactly what's involved in choosing, caring for and training our canine friends."

If you are going, keep your eye out for other K9Z members as many have qualified for the show. K9Z wish them all the best of luck !

K9Z Calendar Competition:-

15/10/01 - We already know just how wonderful your dogs are, and here at K9Z we have already seen some wonderful pictures of your non-pedigree dogs. Earlier in the year we launched the Calendar Contest, in which members could enter photos of their dogs, providing they were prepared to lend the original print, or high quality digital image in order that the calendar could be produced.

Whilst we have received some super pictures, two of which can be seen in the illustration above, we are still considerably short of having enough to produce a non-pedigree calendar for next year.

We are particularly looking for spring, summer and autumn shots (something with leaves ?). We have received some wonderful Christmas photos already.

If we do not receive enough photos soon, we may have to postpone the calendar production until 2003, which will be a shame. Please e-mail us your photos as soon as possible.

K9Z Dog Of The Year:-

08/10/01 - When we speak about the Dog Of The Year championships that are coming up in December, people tend to think of things based on just their own country. K9Z has members all over the world - you may be interested to know that most of our members are from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, followed closely by the USA, but we also have members spread throughout the rest of the world in countries like Sweden, Australia, Canada, Nova Scotia, Singapore, New Zealand, Mexico, Holland and France as well.

<img src="k9z-intro.gif" width=300 height=200 border=0>

It is surprising how different crosses are between countries, a mutt simply isn't just a mutt, so the global title of K9Z Dog Of The Year is a very prestigious title to be given indeed.

The judging will take place this December. There are 40 possible entry places available - most of which have now been filled - if you want to take part, please e-mail as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

There are some super prizes to be won, from very ornate rosettes, to the super champions cup itself, plus a prize for the dog that receives the most votes on our web poll.

New Photo Competition - Best Snow Shot:-

01/10/01 - Further to popular request, the K9Z team have come up with a new photo competition. The new theme is *Best Snow Shot*. Basically any photos with snow in them count, even fake snow ! As usual, there is a K9Z winners rosette up for grabs to the lucky winner, so get those photos rolling in.

The winner will be announced here at K9Z at the end of November. The winning picture will be displayed on the K9Z homepage, at the beginning of December and the lucky winner will have their rosette posted out to them then, so good luck everyone !!!

More Look-a-Likes ?

23/09/01 - Does anyone notice any similarities between these two K9Z members ? At first glance you'd be forgiven for thinking that they are actually the same dog, but no, these are two different dogs. Lucky and Tetley have a lot in common, not only their appearance, but how they enjoy having a cuddle on somebody's lap.

As the K9Z database grows and grows, more look-a-likes are coming to light every day, which proves just how useful the dog database is in finding a similar cross to your own. If you own a non-pedigree dog, please register it with us today so that we can continue expanding the database to include as many cross types as possible.

Membership to K9Z is completely free, but once registered you are able to join in the fun competitions held here on line for no cost. The new photo competition to be held at K9Z will be announced on or before the end of the month, so keep your eyes peeled !

More Happy Families:-

16/09/01 - This photo shows yet more K9Z happy families. These two super dogs (who were both originally strays), Duly - a Labrador x Collie, and Nestor - a German Shepherd x Husky x Labrador look great in this photo.

They are also two very special dogs:-

Nestor is a certified therapy dog who has been visiting a nursing home once a week for 3 1/2 years and is also involved in obedience.

Duly, whilst in remition from bone cancer, also visits a nursing home every week as a therapy dog, although he is not certified.

K9Z think both dogs are wonderful and are amazed at how much good work they do. Hats off to you both !

Cutest Sleeping Face:-

10/09/01 - The Cutest Sleeping Face Photo Contest proved to be a real success. We have had many pictures submitted, and have enjoyed looking at all of them. The hardest part out of this competition was choosing a winner as all the photos were cute. In the end we narrowed things down to two photos that we feel deserve joint first place.

The winning dogs, Ben and Molly asleep together in the top photo, and Finnegan in the bottom photo are gorgeous ! Rosettes will be despatched shortly to the lucky winners. Keep an eye out at K9Z for the next photo competition coming soon, and a big thank you to everyone else who took part in the competition - we enjoyed looking at all pictures received immensely.

K9Z Happy Families:-

02/09/01 - There are lots of K9Z dog owners who have more than one canine. We receive so many super pictures from you all, and this is no exception. These three beautiful K9Z members are Molly, Ben and Bart. I think you'll have to agree that they're all gorgeous. Bart looks so good with the two young dogs and all three seem to enjoy having their pictures taken !

If you have a Happy Families picture of a group of crossbreed & mongrel dogs, that you think would look good on the K9Z homepage, please e-mail it to us.

Just a quick reminder for you all to say that there are only three places left in this years Dog Of The Week/Year competition, so if you were planning on entering your dog, please hurry and get your on-line form & pictures in before it's too late. There is already one dog shooting ahead in the on-line voting system, but all dogs are judged equally at the end of the year for the main K9Z prize so it's not too late to enter.

Barney The Businessman:-

27/08/01 - Who'd have thought that K9Z dogs worked so hard for a living. Well, this photo really does show just how hard Barney, a Labrador, Collie & Rottweiller cross's days are. Looks like he's quite at home too in his managerial role ! K9Z think he's so handsome that we wouldn't say no to him working in our offices!!!

If you have a photo of your dog that you think would look good on K9Z homepage, please e-mail it in to us.

K9Z Dog Database:-

19/08/01 - An interesting thing happened this week at K9Z. A member applied and we thought we already had the dog registered. On closer inspection we realised that infact the dogs, Tabi and Finnegan were definitely not the same, nor indeed were they even related - infact they don't even live in the same country, but there is a definite resemblance so we thought we'd bring it to other K9Z members attention.

The dog database has proved such a success. It is a great way for people to find a *type* of dog that they are looking for, and indeed, in this case, to find your dogs double !

Past Ella's Bedtime:-

13/08/01 - K9Z Member Ella really is sleepy in this photo. This is the third photo that members have sent in of their dogs for the homepage and we think it's lovely. Hopefully her owners took a photo soon after to enter into our current competition - best sleeping face. Ella is a beautiful dog, often mistaken for a pedigree dog, but people just aren't sure what breed ! She is an amazing colour as can be seen and K9Z think she's a really special dog indeed.

If you have a photo of your dog that you think would look good on K9Z homepage, please e-mail it in to us.

Muffin Down By The Sea:-

06/08/01 - Following in the footsteps of the lovely Tabi's boating success last week, we have Muffin who proves that you don't have to be Pamela Anderson to look great at the beach. Muffin is clearly having a fabulous time up to her neck in the sand.

If you have a photo of your dog that you think would look good on K9Z homepage, please e-mail it in to us.

Tabi Goes Boating:-

30/07/01 - K9Z loved this photo sent in by one of our members so much that we had to put it on the homepage for all the members to see. Tabi gets up to lots of different activities and as you can see, this photo is no exception. K9Z wanted to say *Go Tabi*. We think Tabi is a lovely dog, very handsome and extremely talented.

If you have a photo of your dog that you think would look good on K9Z homepage, please e-mail it in to us.

New Photo Competition, Cutest Sleeping Face:-

23/07/01 - If your dog looks cute when sleeping, get your camera out and take a snap. Our new competition is searching for the dog with the cutest face whilst sleeping and here at K9Z we know just how cute our members dogs are, so this is going to be a tough one.

The competition closes at the end of August and the winner will receive a special K9Z rosette posted to them, plus their picture will be featured here on the homepage, so hurry up and e-mail us your pictures.

Giving A Rescue Dog A Second Chance:-

16/07/01 - This weeks feature revolves around giving rescue dogs a second chance, and in particular, crossbreed and mongrel rescue dogs. There are thousands of unwanted dogs in homes throughout the world. If you have space in your life for another furry friend, please give the rescue centres a chance to find you your perfect pet. K9Z has a whole section dedicated to RESCUE CENTRES throughout the UK.

The picture above shows just some of our beautiful members, and you can see that they are just as attractive to look at as pedigree dogs, so go on, give a Crossbreed or Mongrel dog a home.

Water Photo Contest Results:-

09/07/01 - A big thank you to everyone who entered the recent Water Photo Contest. All of the photos were lovely and we appreciated them all. Ultimately there had to be just one winner and the special K9Z rosette goes to Dizzy K9Z01041502, for the photo of her in her paddling pool.

New Photo Competition - our new competition to replace the Water contest will be "Cutest Sleeping Face". Anyone who thinks they have a great photo of their dog sleeping should enter this competition, it is completely free and the results will be announced at the end of August, the winner receiving one of K9Z's special rosettes.

K9Z Dog Of The Year Competition:-

02/07/01 - The prizes for the K9Z Dog Of The Year 2001 competition have now arrived, and have been photographed for our members to see. The pictures clearly show just how wonderful they really are - one lucky member will be admiring the large cup in their home this Christmas, when the final judging takes place, and it certainly is something to be proud of.

View Further Details On Dog Of The Year

For those people not familiar with the competition, it is completely free for all members. Anyone who enters Dog Of The Week, automatically qualifies for entry into the Dog Of The Year Final. If you'd like to enter, you'd better hurry as there are only a few places left (nine at the last count when this page was made, and they're going fast !). Dogs will be displayed weekly up until December of this year, after which point the various prizes will be awarded, and winners announced here on-line at K9Z.

K9Z Judges Favourite Dog: K9Z have a special price for the winner of the Judges Favourite category. A huge engraved champions cup, supplied by On-line Trophies, plus a beautiful rosette will be awarded to the "K9Z Judges Favourite Dog" entered in the competition - size can be seen when compared to the hand in the picture above. There will also be special rosettes for other dogs that the Judges were especially fond of.

The dogs that have entered already are all wonderful, and really all of them are winners in our eyes, but ultimately, the dog who wins this years cup will have a smile on his face all Christmas long ! The question is, does your dog have what it takes to become K9Z DOG OF THE YEAR 2001???

K9Z Club T-Shirts:-

24/06/01 - K9Z have introduced a range of t-shirts that members can purchase, to tell the public how much they adore crossbreed and mongrel dogs. The t-shirts are available in four colours, grey, pale yellow, pale blue and white. There are two designs to choose from, both t-shirts having printed text on the Front, Back and one sleeve.

The first t-shirt, "Red Aware" has the K9Z logo in red, reading "K9Z, www.K9Z.co.uk, For Non-Pedigree Dogs", on the front, the reverse in/out logo on the sleeve and the text "www.K9Z.co.uk, The On-Line Dog Club For, CROSSBREEDS & MONGRELS", on the back.

The second t-shirt, "Around the Canine World", has the K9Z World logo on the front, along with the text "Crossbreed & Mongrel Dogs, Around the Canine World", the reverse in/out logo on the sleeve and the text "K9Z, Non-Pedigree Dog Web Club, Uniting Owners & Fans Of Crossbreed & Mongrel Dogs, www.K9Z.co.uk".

Dog Sports & Rest In Peace:-

18/06/01 - K9Z have launched two new pages on their site, the first, Dog Sports, features photos of K9Z members competing in Agility, Flyball and Obedience. Having seen some photos of the dogs, K9Z decided to dedicate a page to them showing how brilliant they are. Those dogs really DO US PROUD ! The second new page, Rest In Peace is on a more serious note. At the request of our members we have created a Pet Memorial page, where members can speak to others and tell stories about canine friends who are sadly no longer with us. This page really does bring tears to the eye.

K9Z Members MOLLY and MUFFIN win Scruffts Heats:-

17/06/01 - Great news reached K9Z that Molly (winner of Week 21 in Dog Of The Week), and Muffin (winner of Week 27 in Dog Of The Week), won heats that qualify them for the Scruffts final which will be held at the Discover Dogs Show at Earls Court, London, in November of this year. Molly won the Prettiest Bitch class in the Wandsworth Show. Muffin won The Dog The Judge Would Most Like To Take Home at the West Parley Show. K9Z are delighted with the news, as are owners, Susan Blisset and Geraldine Beveridge.

Water Photo Contest:-

04/06/01 - One of the topics that recently came up for discussion a fair bit on the messageboard was "water games" - dogs with paddling pools etc. Well, K9Z liked reading the stories so much that we want you to E-MAIL your water related photos to us.

As a bit of an incentive for you all to get snapping this weekend, we've put forward a special rosette that the lucky winner will receive. The closing date for this competition is the end of June - we will post the winning photo here on the main K9Z page shortly afterwards.

A Big Thanks To Our Wonderful Members:-

28/05/01 - Who'd have thought that so many wonderful crossbreeds could come together to join as one force. K9Z are delighted at the response received since it's launch in March of this year, now with many members of a wide range of cross types, some of whom are featured in the picture below (and don't they all look great together !), we have been able to build up a data source from the information supplied by our members, which has already proved a valuable tool to many people seeking information on particular cross types.

The K9Z Messageboard - has also proved a success. Anyone who hasn't yet visited and said hello, please do, the more topics for discussion, the better !

Well, whoever said "It's just a crossbreed dog" must need their heads examining as can be seen from all the variations of members we now have on our records, there are all different shapes, sizes and colours, and there's no such thing as JUST a crossbreed dog. Anyway, this week is a special week, K9Z want to thank all it's members for joining, and for their support and we hope that we'll soon have many more new members to add to our records.

"News From The Charities" - An Article From The Dogworld:-

27/05/01 - Following our feature on this years Scruffts competition, Dog World have also expressed support - see article above. Dog World lists Exemption Dog Shows in the back section - a useful tool for any keen show exhibitor. Anyone who missed the K9Z Scruffts article can find it by scrolling down our NEWS page, or click on either of the logos below for more in-depth information.

Pal Scruffts 2001 Competition:-

20/05/01 - PAL SCRUFFTS is kind of like CRUFTS - but not. It's for FUN! And it gives all cross-breeds out there a chance to shine, in the Family Dog Of The Year competition. Sponsored by PAL, in association with The Kennel Club and the National Canine Defence League (NCDL), PAL SCRUFFTS was launched by 'Royle Family' star Ricky Tomlinson at Discover Dogs last year - when Ricky encouraged all dog lovers to enter their canine family friend into the regional heats. Click the image below for further details.

We have 20 heats taking place all over the country throughout 2001, where we'll be looking for winners in these four categories:-

  • Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch.
  • Handsomest Crossbreed Dog.
  • Best Crossbreed Rescue.
  • The Crossbreed the Judge would most like to take Home.

  • The overall winner of these four categories will win the prestigious title, "Family Dog Of The Year".

We're not looking for a 'best of breed', we're looking for lovable dogs with plenty of character. So if that sounds like your dog, why not enter him into the competition? Who knows, he could be taking home a trophy at the PAL SCRUFFTS final.

Rescued, regular or just a plain old rogue - if you want your pal to have a chance of taking home a trophy you'll have to act now. Regional heats will be taking place from May to September, with the final being held London on Sunday 4 November 2001.

Coats & Harnesses For Your Dog (Sales Proceeds To Charity):-

13-05-01 - For anyone looking for a wonderful present to give to any dog lover, this is the answer. Alison co-ordinates a small group in Wales that produce handmade dog goods. Not only are these items remarkably cheaper than their mass-production counterparts, but they are also much higher quality than you could expect to find in the shops. The best part of all is that the money raised from sales goes to really good causes. The group has already collected for: Rhondda Valleys Animal Welfare, Riding For The Disabled Association Group, South Wales Respite Care For Terminally Ill Children, Veterinary Attention Costs For Rescued & Fostered Animals Through A TRPD Animal Support Project. The Group Are Currently Collecting For: Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, Border Collie & Sheep Dog Rescue - This is largely due to the number of working dogs being handed over to them due to the foot and mouth crisis. Click here to read our full in-depth article on these products.

    Portraits Of Your Dog:-

06/05/01 - Sally Logue is a highly skilled professional artist, working in Cumbria, who offers a portrait service for all kinds of pets. You'll be amazed at how closely Sally's finished portraits resemble original photos. Click here to read our full in-depth article on Sally's work. These pictures make wonderful keep-sakes of your beloved pets and are, in my opinion, a "must have" for every dog owner.

19/04/01 - For those of you out there that have dogs that aren't too opposed to the thought of possibly becoming famous, you might like to enter the Calendar Contest. Next year, K9Z plan to introduce a calendar featuring only non-pedigree dogs, which will be for sale through K9Z, with profits being donated to charity. If you have a nice photo that you think may look good in the calendar, please e-mail it to us. In the event of you being one of the 12 successful winner, we will need a copy of the original of the photo, which will be returned to you. Click one of the images below for more information.

    Photo Competition:-

19/03/01 - Whilst lots of you have already entered the Photo Competition - and may I just say that there have been some very nice pictures indeed, we would still like to encourage other owners to have a try - there have so far been the same owners entering lots of piccies and we'd like to see lots more of our K9Z members entering. You've still got a few more weeks, so please, get "snapping" and "scanning" and send the images in to us click Here For More Information.

    Prize To Be Won:-

07/02/01 - There are so many beautiful crossbreed and mongrel dogs out there, as can be seen in our Dog Of The Week pages. To show our appreciation to all the entrants, we have decided to put forward all dogs that are featured in Dog Of The Week this year to an annual final. The winner will receive the "K9Z DOG OF THE YEAR" trophy. For those who haven't yet entered their dog, there is still plenty of time for you to enter. A special trophy and rosette will be awarded to the K9Z favourite, plus runners up rosettes and a special rosette and prize will also be awarded to the dog that wins our on-line poll voting system, so don't forget to vote for who you think should win.

    Crossbreed and Mongrel Calendar:-

07/02/01 - One of the reasons we are promoting the Dog Of The Week page is so that we can get an idea of what kinds of pictures owners have of their dogs. The plan is to use the best pictures to create a calendar for 2002. There are so many dog calendars available featuring pedigree dogs that we feel crossbreeds and mongrels should have a chance too.

    Post Launch:-

05/02/01 - Thanks to everyone that has visited the site so far. We already have some beautiful pictures on the members page - it's great to see so many crossbreeds and mongrels all together. We still need more members, so if anyone knows anybody with a suitable dog, put them in touch with the site. We also need lots of photos for the photo-competition, so send them in.

    March 2001:-

K9Z is launced. On the 1st of March 2001 we released her live version. This is probably the hardest part of all, as we now have to sit back and wait for feedback to filter through. Hopefully there will be a lot of interest, but only time will tell.

Just a quick note to say that if you're reading this, and you have a Crossbreed or Mongrel dog, please become a member (it's completely free). It is only by people joining that we will be able to make this site a success. The more members we have, the more information we will be able to compile on Crossbreed and Mongrel dogs.

    February 2001:-

The site design was set up, ideas written down, and scripted into HTML. What started off as lots of pages began to form the basis of K9Z itself. Before long, the site had really come together and we were all getting very excited about it's launch date.

The beta version is loaded up on the 26th of February and the site is submitted to all the major search engines. It is really exciting seeing the first pages going live for the first time. It makes everything seem worthwhile. All the effort feels that it has had a reason behind it.

    September 2000:-

Being a complete Crossbred and Mongrel dog lover, I wanted to start up a website to unite their fans and owners and to make more information on these wonderful dogs available on-line. The hardest part of all the planning was deciding on a name for the site. After a lot of umm-ing and err-ing we decided that K9Z was a good name - easy to remember and relatively short.

We purhased the URL and we were ready to get started.
