Notice Of The Week - Misuse of Guestbook/Messageboard:-

15/02/03 - It is with disappointed that K9Z has had to temporarily remove the messageboard from the website. Sadly, it had been misused, which we felt was a real shame, considering it had run smoothly for nearly three years. For the time being the messageboard will remain *down* until we feel that we are able to ensure that it is not used inappropriately. After the messageboard was removed the individual concerned then decided to post offensive remarks on the guestbook as well, so we were forced to remove the sign facility from that for the time being as well. Appologies to those as disappointed as we are. Hopefully things will return to normal very soon. We still have a huge backlog of work from the xmas period, and when trying to deal with the incredibly high demand of requests that we receive, such unnecessary behaviour just brings more work and delays work in more needed areas.

Happy New Year:-

17/01/03 - Well, after a few weeks off, K9Z is back for 2003. We would like to wish all our members and site visitors a very happy new year!

Kiss Me Quick:-

10/11/02 - Here is a lovely photo of Finnegan all dressed up. I think everyone at K9Z would stand in line to give a kiss, wouldn't you ????

Where is the audition for Men In Black 3 ?:-

01/11/02 - Jayne Godwin thought she knew exactly what Barney and Wallace were up to in this photo, and we thought her caption was best, with "Where is the audition for Men in Black 3 ?" Well done Jayne !

Dizzy, runner up RSPCA Crossbreed DOTY:-

25/09/02 - Dizzy was runner up RSPCA Crossbreed Dog Of The Year today!! Here's a piccie of us with her trophy & rossies. She will also be at the final for Scruffts !

Dizzy is certainly always in the ribbons at shows and really does give any pedigree dog a real run for it's money proving crossbreeds really are THE BEST !

Caption Winner:-

15/09/02 - The winning caption was submitted by Jayne Godwin. Well done Jayne, we think your idea of "Prove it was me !" totally fits this brilliant picture !

Keep your eyes peeled on this page for our next competition, coming soon.

Abbie K9Z's New Dog:-

29/08/02 - K9Z would like to introduce everyone to our new dog, Abbie. Abbie isn't in very good condition at the moment - she is very thin and has a skin complaint. Abbie is only just over a year old and has already had her first lot of pups before we got her (she has now been neutered). She is a happy little dog, willing to learn and please. We think she is a vizsla x staffordshire bull terrier, although with her poor condition it is hard to tell at the moment. Abbie came to us from the Chiltern Dog Rescue and was previously picked up as a stray in Wales. Abbie comes to us following the loss of our old dog Lucky, to cancer earlier this year.

If you have any other ideas as to her cross type, why not drop us a line.

Caption Competition:-

24/07/02 - This wonderful photo was sent in by one of our members. It really is a super one we think you'll agree !

If you think you know what the winning caption should be, e-mail us. We will post the winning caption online shortly.

Competition Winner:-

10/07/02 - The lucky winner of our DOG K9Z WOULD MOST LIKE TO TAKE HOME competition and prize is Jackson. Jackson, or Action Jackson as he is better known is from Jacksonville, Florida in the USA. Well done Jackson !

Our next competition will be announced shortly.

Guess The Cross Type:-

24/06/02 - This is Tally. Her owners would like some help in guessing what type of cross you think she is. They think she is a Jack Russell cross, but are not sure what the other parts are. Some have suggested maybe a Cavalier, a Collie, a Spaniel or a Whippet, although her owners joked it could possibly be a gonk or bendy toy !

If you think you know what Tally's cross type is, please e-mail Tally's owner.

Winning Caption:-

17/06/02 - The winning caption was submitted by Larry Dudus and is:-

"just checking on my rental unit"....

Well done Larry.

Keep your eyes on this page for our next caption competition, coming soon.

Dog K9Z Would Most Like To Take Home Competition:-

11/06/02 - If you haven't yet entered your dog in our current competition, you only have a short while to do so. Judging will take place very shortly, so if you want to enter, see our Photo Competition page for further details.

Photo Caption:-

23/04/02 - What a wonderful photograph this is. K9Z received it from one of our members, but instead of telling you about it, we thought it would be nice for you to tell us what caption you think best fits.

The winning caption will be posted with the photo here on K9Z shortly.

K9Z Says Goodbye To Lucky:-

18/03/02 - K9Z own dog, Lucky, a 12 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Labrador from the Chiltern Dog Rescue in England has passed away. We are all completely broken hearted, but are thankful for all the wonderful times we had together. She wasn’t a pet, she was a member of our family and she will be very sadly missed.

Lucky went from strength to strength in the time we had her. She not only visited an old people’s home three times a week, but became a regular competitor at local shows, attending them most weekends in the summer months. In the end she had achieved the titles of Borough Champion for Harrow in 1999 and indeed County Champion, when she won at the Middlesex Show last year. Her success was highlighted in four newspaper articles over the years, one of which was a half page feature story. Sadly, since Christmas she had become unwell, with what looks like a brain tumour. Last Friday she took a turn for the worse. Despite our hopes that she would somehow make a recovery, by Sunday she was much worse and yesterday we realised that it was time to let her go. No words can say how much she meant to us all, but we are grateful for all the happy times we had, and indeed all the memories we are left with. We love you very much Lucky now, always and forever...

K9Z Celebrates 1st Birthday:-

11/03/02 - K9Z is now a whole year old. We started officially running at the beginning of March last year, and have grown from strength to strength. We now have hundreds of members, with an extensive database online showing many different examples of cross-types. Our members are spread over more than twenty countries worldwide.

K9Z WOULD LIKE TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS MADE THIS CLUB A SUCCESS BY JOINING. Each and every dog counts !

New Front Page:-

04/03/02 - Due to the number of visitors that we are currently receiving, K9Z felt it best to dedicate the homepage to a collage of members dogs photos and to keep the weekly updates on the news section. We have received so many photos since our launch that it seemed silly not to show off a selection of K9Z dogs to new visitors to the site.

I am sure you as members and indeed our new visitors will appreciate this wonderful picture that features non-pedigree dogs from small to large in all their glory.

Notice Of The Week - Salsa:-

25/02/02 - Salsa is shown here proudly displaying the rosette she won for coming third in the Dog Of The Year competition. Yellow certainly suits her ! Salsa is an Australian Cattle Dog x Beagle, born back in 1999. She has very unusual markings and is a very attractive little dog. Her owners say she loves hiding bones around the house !

Dog Database: We are also pleased to announce that we now have photos of over 160 dogs on-line for visitors to browse through on the dog database. The database is such a great tool for finding out information on various cross types, so thank you all for submitting your pictures.

Muffin:-

18/02/02 - This is Muffin, a Lurcher x Terrier, born back in 1993. She was lucky enough to win the on-line poll as the most popular dog according to K9Z site visitors in Dog Of The Year - she certainly does look great with her rosette.

Muffin is a versitile little dog, being involved in obedience and agility as well as general dog shows. She has even been featured in a 30 minute tv documentary. Muffin loves going to the seaside, and in particular, digging doggy sized holes in the sand !

Sunny:-

11/02/02 - This is Sunny, a German Shepherd x Collie x Chow - and a very good looking one at that !

She was born back in 1997 when she was found at 11 weeks old wandering the streets. A breeder took her in and placed her up for adoption, which is how her owner came to meet her.

Sunny was a finalist in the recent Dog Of The Year competition and she is proudly displaying her rosette in the photo - apparently purple is her favourite colour (it certainly suits her !)

Unfortunately, Sunny's owners tell us that she hasn't been too well this year - infact she has lost quite a lot of weight battling a serious illness. Thankfully, We are pleased to tell you that she is now on the mend and K9Z wish her all the best for the future and hope that she is fully recovered very soon.

Forrest:-

04/02/02 - This is Forrest, proudly showing off the rosette he won in the Dog Of The Year competition. He is a Shar Pei cross, born back in 1997.

Life hasn't always been wonderful for Forrest. He started out life as a street dog in Roanoke, Virginia. He was involved in a road traffic accident and was subsequently locked in a building and left for dead. He was rescued and nursed back to health, but was still not out of the woods, as he was tied up outside the flat where he was living and was tormented by neighbourhood hooligans who knew exactly how long his chain was. After several incidents he went to live with his current owner and has been there ever since, enjoying life, especially games with his tennis balls. K9Z think he's a great little chap !

Jack - First Dog Of The Year, Next, President:-

28/01/02 - All dog of the year finalists were asked to submit photos of their dogs with the winning rosettes, Jack was featured with his rosette last week, but his owners also sent this picture along, that really made us laugh. We thought that other K9Z members would enjoy seeing it, so this week it's hats off to Jack. He has come a long way since being rescued back in 1999 from a busy highway. Actually, we think he'd make rather a good President ! He's certainly the most handsome !

Photos are already starting to pour in for the new competition - the dog K9Z would most like to take home, which is currently running - see the photo competitions link on the top left navigation bar for more details.

More Dog Of The Year Photos:-

21/01/02 - Here is yet another photo of one of the Dog Of The Year winners. This is Jack, looking very handsome with his rosette. Jack is a Labrador x Akita. He was born in back in 1999 and was rescued from a busy highway in "Jack"sonville, Florida. His owners say that he is very smart - he has done basic obedience classes, and was going to get into agility, until he was diagnosed with a severe hip dysplasia, for which he has now had surgery for. K9Z think he is a super dog !

K9Z are running the Dog Of The Year competition for 2002, so if you think you're dog should qualify to enter, please get in touch with us - remember, it's completely free, and there are some great prizes to be won!
