Canine Friends No Longer With Us:-

This page has been created at the request of our members, a place where old friends whom are no longer with us can be remembered.

If you have a pet that you'd like to remember, please e-mail us their details, and we will add them to this page. At K9Z, our dogs are more than pets, they are friends, and although a friend may no longer be with us, they are never forgotton.

LUCKY

Lucky, K9Z own dog, who was a 12 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Labrador was to us the most wonderful friend and companion anyone could ever wish for. Life without her around seems almost impossible. The quietness and lack of her spirit is unbearable but something that all pet owners experience, even though at the time you feel as though nobody else could ever understand how terrible the loss feels. Lucky was brilliant, a real character and the kindest sweetest dog anyone could ever wish to meet. She visited an old people's home three times a week, competed in shows throughout the summer months and became both the Borough Champion in 1999 and County Champion at the Middlesex Show in 2001. She was featured in lots of articles in local papers that followed her success and I am honoured to have known her. I cannot put into words how much I love her or how much I will miss her now that she's gone. I just hope that wherever I go, a part of her will remain with me, until we can meet again in a better place...

SAMPSON

Sampson was a member of the family from day one! We first picked him up at the shelter in Camarillo, California as a puppy. Not too long after that, he won over our hearts! He was our best friend. He could tell when you were sad, and he could tell when you were happy. He would jog with me(dad), play tug of war with a rope toy, and play hide and go seek with the family. He was also just as comfortable spending time with the family in front of the tv watching a movie. One thing he definitely enjoyed was car rides. I would put the window half way down and he would just suck it all in. He would meet me when I came home from work, and he would always meet my son at the door with his tail wagging 100 mph, letting us all know how much he loved us, and how happy he was to see us. He even shared some morning coffee with us, each morning. I think the only thing that was missing from him was a voice. He was definitely a character. He brought new meaning to the term, "Man's best friend", as he was actually, "Families best friend". He passed away on Tuesday, 21 May 2002. Our entire family feels so empty without Sampson. We hurt so much! He will be forever missed. May his soul and spirit rest in peace. Until we meet again in a better place. We'll miss you Dear Sampson. Love, Mom, Dad, and Ryan

PEPPER

Pepper, a labrador x who was 11 years old when he passed away, was a loyal and friendly dog, who was more then a dog he was a friend. Pepper was a lovely dog and is missed by the family and his old mate Bart.

TESS (15th October 1985 - 15th July 1998)

Tess was a Doberman type cross who came to live with us when she was 10 years old. She had spent most of her life chained in someones back yard. We brought her home from a sanctuary without much information as the person who had all the info on her wasn't available to give it to us at the time (long story). Anyway, we brought her home and she wandered into the living room, looked at all the other dogs and cats and went to sleep on the sofa. Two weeks later, we found out that she didn't like other dogs and cats and never had done. In fact, she had been known to fight with other dogs on occassions. Hhhmmm. All our animals loved Tess. Any new kittens or pups always took to her straight away and she was gentle and kind to each one of them. Many of the younger animals would share her bed at night and she would share with good grace. When we adopted her, we knew she had arthritis, and a heart murmur. We knew we wouldn't have her forever, but we were just happy to be able to give her some comfort and kindness in her twilight years.

We had almost three wonderful years with Tess before her legs failed her and she went on her journey to the Bridge. On the 6th July, 9 days before Tess left us, I told Marc that I would like a small, scruffy terrier type puppy. I described exactly what my ideal scruffy mate would look like - and Marc just rolled his eyes. Tess went to the Bridge on 15th July and a short while later, we were asked to bottle feed a litter of pups who's Mum had mastitis and could no longer feed them. One of these puppies almost died and when she didn't, I decided I must keep her. That puppy was Kizzie - a very scruffy mutt - exactly as I had described to Marc. She had been born on 6th July. Eat plenty of toffee apples at the Bridge whilst you wait for us Tessle. I'm sure by now you have met up with Whisp (kitten) and welcomed Sherpa (cat), Conker (kitten) and most recently, beloved Amber (cat).

Till we meet again. Love always from Mummy & Daddy and all the boys and girls xxxxx

PAT

Pat was a Jack Russell cross who lived with a young boy (now in his fifties !) from a young age til he was a teenager. Whenever you grow up with a pet you somehow always think that the pet will always be there. Every Saturday when Michael received his pocket money, he'd race down to the local newsagents with the dog, buy himself a Beano comic and the dog a bar of chocolate - which Pat thoroughly enjoyed. When Pat passed away, Michael was so upset that he cut off a piece of her fur, made a little box out of silver paper and kept it in there so he'd always have something tangible to remind him of her.

LADY

We got Lady from Leigh dogs home many years ago as a 9 month old ginger whirlwind who gradually calmed down and became a 'PAT' dog visiting the local old peoples' home (loved the biscuits there!), she also won some obedience medals in our local dog training club - including being the only dog to return with the sausage uneaten at the Xmas fun competition!. My gentle Lady lived to the ripe old age of 15 half blind, half deaf (until she heard the biscuits coming out!) and sadly died last summer of pneumonia. My other dog Beth & I miss her still.

Wait for us in heaven, my love.

KIM

This is kim a german shepard cross she sadly passed away Last november after 14 wonderfull years.

DORIS

We got Doris when she was a 1 year old puppy, she was my dream dog. Everyday my best friend and I would go out and walk her and play with her in the garden. I spoiled her like she was a baby. She actualy felt like a baby to me. I loved her so much. She would protect me like she was the mother, not me. She would follow me around everywhere I went. We won prizes at local dog competitions. We were an inseperable pair. Dor (as I used to call her) used to have fits at least 4 times a year. I the summer of 2001 she got a tumor. It was the worst news I had ever heard. She did live for another year. You wouldn't know that she was ill. But it was one night when I had just come back from Dog Training, with my other dog, my brother told me that when he had taken her out she had collasped. I was devastated. The vet came round, he told us that she had lost her bablance and could barely stand up. The next morning she was put down 1st June 2002. Doris I will always love you. Your best dog pal Dottie and I will miss you forever. From Mum (Alice) and Dottie (your best mate) XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
