After the drama's (see below) Val had the worst asthma attack of her life so I had to go to the hosiptal with her in an ambulance (my first time - hooray!) Oh yeah, the NYE Goldmine is strictly ticket only because of the Sunday licensing rules or something. The tax is actually £15 and tickets are available from Gary Dennis at Crazy Beat or from Frostie who has 100 tickets. The Dec 23rd Lacy Lady is £8 as usual, and the 6th Jan Lacy Lady is Hilly's Birthday and free to all Lacy members!

Just returned from The Grim North where I was listening to Richard Searling's Cellar Full Of Soul on Jazz FM (different programming up there) and was impressed by the number of Soul Doos plugged on the show. Can't see that happening on Jazz FM down here. Anyway, they seemed to be well attended with the emphasis on getting in early due to capacity crowds. Although the music is, unsurprisingly mainly Northern/Modern some venues have two or three rooms with Disco & Jazz-Funk on offer. I'm up for a trip up to the North-West next year. Maybe a Soulboys away fixture-you can guarantee the beer will be cheaper than the Lacy!
