I've just been hearing from a friend about the mentality of the Northern fans. ALLEGEDLY they have a great big chip on their shoulder regarding what happens dahhhhhn Sarf, and hate to be associated with anything other than purist original 60's Northern... most of them have collectively decided to boycott Ian Levine's gig at The Rocket 'cos they've always hated him for playing 'new' stuff', and it's in London........ Hmmmmmmmmm. Anyone care to comment? Could make for a lively discussion!

One day a woman had a 11:00am appointment at the gynecologist office and got woke out of bed around 8:30 by the phone and it was the gynecologist office saying that her appointment had been pushed up to 9:30. Most woman take extra time to wash up on days that they have an appointment, but not today. She ran into the bathroom and found her daughters washcloth on the sink and did the quick rub down, raced over to the office and got undressed and got onto the table with her legs spread in the leg racks. The doctor comes in and says "wow, we spent extra time to clean up today!" The woman was so embarrassed she says nothing and concludes the exam. She goes home and later that day her daughter asks her where her washcloth is and the mother says "just get another one" the daughter says "no mom you don't understand, that is the one with my face glitter and sparkles in it".

LOTR is one of my favourite books! In the end of The Retrn Of The King, Frodo and Samwise are at Mount Doom, about to throw The One Ring back into the mountains fiery heart! Suddenly, Gollum jumps out on them and a struggle ensues in which Frodo's finger is cut off (for the Ring) and as Gollum raises it triumphantly he falls into the fiery pits destroying The One Ring (and himself) and therefore saving Middle earth from the reign of the Dark Lord (not sure if that's still Sauron or if it's Saruman*). The book closes with lots of twee elvensong and candlelight and Bilbo and Gandalf (who are both bloody old!) getting in their little boat and sailing To The West in search of The Grey Havens. Doris, you're right, Aragorn was a bit of a sort, even in my imagination! *Saruman Of Many Colours, formerly Sarman The Wite, leader of the Wizards.

Dicky - there's actually been a northern soul nite every month for the last 6 months in marvellous Morden, plus a modern do at Christmas organised by the guys who publish Manifesto, and now a modern do scheduled monthly for 2002! The South London Swingers are amazed (but pleased obviously) to take their rightful place at the centre of the soul universe. We live 2 minutes walk away, but we're planning on driving around the Morden one-way system for 200 miles before the do on Jan 18th to create that normal 'night out' feeling.

You might be thinking of the Goldmine! ... and, If you want a good file sharing service/programme, you could try Audiogalaxy (www.audiogalaxy.com ). you have to download a tiny program called 'Audiogalaxy satellite' and then you can search through the music of anyone else running it. I've used it quite a bit and it seems a lot quicker than Morpheus. Good luck matey!

I like to wish everyone a funky and soulful New Year and here's to 2002 being a goodie. Hope wherever you were last night that you had a fun and enjoyable time. Fab evening in Basingstoke was had by all. To Dickie thanx for being a terrific host although didn't managed to get me glass of bubbles at midnight. How I fancied me bolly. To Mick, Chris, Jim, Gareth and all the other jocks those tunes kept rolling all night. Kim, Gavin good to see you again. Gav you were like a man possessed on that dancefloor. Finally to me swiffin travelling companions bomber, scouse and sweetie it was certainly fun and entertaining getting lost along the way and all those food exploits.
