Hi, Timbo. Glad the cd was ok - I burned one for Gina (my trouble) & it plays fine on the PC but on any of the other players in the house only the Napster sourced tracks are recognised,. The CD sourced tracks may as well not be there. Your track was off Napster BTW. It seems a good idea to leave the PC alone when creating CDs. Going online seems to bugger it up. Anyway, I might be up for a natter later - just bear with me & my slow, two figer typing!

Before i go to work thought i'd tell you 'bout "Secraption". Had no trouble getting a drink at the bar,(nice!!!). Felt like i'd taken an acid tab 'cos everyone was looking at me, then i realised i was the only person standing still with a pint in my hand, everyone else was going mental with a bottle of water in their hands!!! After about 5 mins of this i felt like slitting my throat so i left. The music wasn't to bad, what am i saying it was ******* awful!!!! Most of the peeps looked as if they had come from a skateboaed convention, bless 'em. But hey, they were enjoing themselves and the atmosphere was freindly. Security wasn't as on the ball as Caister i just walked in?? Dawn G.Y. has got the sea, sand & snakebite and there are two solariums on my road!!!!

Niki & Kaya, the folder thing is sorted. The mp3 converter was a neat little program I used to convert mp3s to wavs for burning CDs When I removed it, 7 went too. I'll be able to download another fairly easily. BTW after seeing the pics of Wraps I almost wished I'd stayed! My bonce looks a bit odd, though. Must have been those large ones you had, Niki. :o)

Very interesting,I was living in Brooklyn around 86 and heard the track covered by the YD's (ie Carleen Anderson)- and picked up the comp - now I know why it was a limited release!!!. As far as I am aware the story is this was one of those bootlegs out of Europe. Motown found out about a number of titles the company had put out and slaped a court order on them. So unless you can find somebody that stocked them and still has it sitting around I think you will struggle. And this was not a good seller for the company as the album on the whole is pony. And most people slated 'Stormy' when myself and Terry Jones started playing it before the Northern scene picked up on it".... and apparently there's a Georgie Fame version too!!! You can always trust the Spotters.

Hey maates! Top night at the Goldmine - very friendly doncha think? Word of advice if this New Years Eve thing goes off at the Goldmine - the Oysterfleet Hotel is divine, £39.50 per room (which are enormous - you could easily sneak more 'floor sleepers' in like I did!) and has (I checked yesterday) 38 rooms left after the 2 I booked!!! Might as well get in there, reserve the rooms on a credit card, and cancel if it doesn't go off. It is the ONLY hotel on the Island - that Dog and Suzanne found out coz I got the last room in the Oyster! and 15 mins walk from the club or half an hour stumble - bit premature, but worth a go! Hi Niki, Doris, Paul and all. Hope all is well. Any more quality requests from New York? ttfn. xx.

I met an old freind called "Billy" (thank god) and a new freind called "snakebite" with black at "Essence" last nite, include the outstanding toons it was the perfect mixture!!! Respect to Bob Cosby (with a "Richards Partie" sticker on his record box), Steve Plumb & Arthur Fenn. These guys didn't compromise on the music playing Donald Byrds "Loving you" within spitting distance of Almeta Lattimores "These memories". Other top toons i can remember which made the full dancefloor "kick" were Sonya "Your the man i need", Corey Blake "How can i go on without you", Donell Jones "i'll go" and a right old singalong to Tabasco's "Trying to put a hold on me". Little story, 'asked my mate Andy if he was staying 'till the 6 or 7 finish in the morning, he said he couldn't, I thought lightweight and i was just going to tell him this when he carried on with "if i go home at 6 or 7 the missus will kill me, so i'll go home 'bout 10 so i don't wake her up". The only criticism I have is the bar prices but they're still not as high as the Lacey - just West End, I suppose you expect that...Well done Chrispy and Ian for bringing good soul music back into town! Excellent sets played by the talented Ms Jones and Ian upstairs and funky club clasics from the SM boys downstairs...Allo Craig, Dawn, Doris, Niki, Alam, Paul, Anon and lurkers! I love you all! Hi Craig, it's at a pub called the Philanthropist and Firkin in Victoria Street (probably upstairs), on Sat 4th. It's £6.00 to get in and it's from 8.00 til late (?). Miks Mix (2 dj's called Mick!) use to hold regular soul do's in St Albans - the most memorable being every Sunday at Scotts Wine Bar (now an Irish pub) and b4 that at Abbotts Wine Bar (now Radio Days)! Good tunes - they know their stuff. Mick Foskett use to be involved with the Essence w/ender in the beginning - but I think he fell out with Gav & Bob so stopped (dj's eh!) Well I'm almost a week too late, courtesy of my Finnish Tour (don't ask), but good to hear from you Richard and of course, I remember Richards Parties in Yarmouth, great doos, particularly loved the back room at that venue (name escapes me) over the road from Tiffany's. Heard some top jocks playing in there, including a pre-UpNorth Promotions Alex Lowes, Gilles Peterson, Tong, Holloway, Masters etc, and some not so top as well! Also some names which have moved on to other things, or have just disappeared - from these ears anyway, Martin Collins, Danny Smith, Trundle etc. I'm almost certain I've got a couple of Richards Weekenders Tee-shirts knocking around somewhere in my clothing museum! One particularly good night I recall was the "Richards Parties meets the Special Branch" doo when a couple of coachloads made the trip to Yarmouth from London as opposed to us always having to travel! Also had some good drunken nights when we used to deejay at that pub in the market place every Thursday night - good times…

They remastered the track and speeded it up a little so that other trainspotters would know if someone was playing an orig or a copy...bloody snobs ;o)Anyway, I am sure that many Soulboys(TM) would agree that jazz/soul was and still is a very valid part of the soul scene. Allo Timbo. Southport gets at least 4 times the people as Caister, is nowhere near as friendly (IMHO), is very commercial and full of kids. What you do get is 4 rooms, monster big name DJ line-up and a far more progressive/eclectic musical experience. It's highly unlikely that you'll hear any Caister Anthems there, if that's what you want - and there's no Finale as such. I haven't been for 4 years now, since the Soul Room got consigned to a section of the Cafeteria bit with no bar! I prefer the atmosphere at Caister (well, I'm a cheesy soul bird what do you expect?), but many people regard Southport as the weekender for the music. If you did look and see i did have a different suit on every session the same way i did at The Togetherness Weekend 6TH to the 8TH October if you missed that you are mad. Had a great day at Aqua Sur yesterday, it´s sort of like Alton Towers with water and sunshine, ok, it´s nothing at all like Alton Towers! Just sat around in Playa Del Ingles last night and got hot and bothered. Craig has discovered a private sun terrace above our apartment today complete with sun loungers and a parasol!! What a bloody time to find such a thingy! Sound like we missed a good ún at the Lacey last night and just can´t wait for the Goldmine reunion at the end of the month. Does anyone know the exact date yet? Is it the third or fourth Saturday of the month? Monk, if you see this before you see him, give my love to Sean, Debs, Lewis & Callum. Paul, we tried Malibu the other night, the music was really good, but Craig´s tummy was still a bit delicate after last weekend. I managed to make him have ONE beer last night, for the stress! Might have more luck tonight, if we ever get out of here! I have been promised the show at La Bell (local drag bar) all week, but something keeps coming up (Ooer missus). Allo Maates! Back to boring work now after a blinding weekend. I have a number of people to thank for making it so blinding! Kaya gets the Cup for the weekend for sheer effort on Friday and for bending over the barrier at the stage so far, he clonked his head on the stage and bounced back upright just as Hilly was shouting 'Bungy jumping tomorrow'. Little Gilly and I nearly choked laughing! Frostie for a blinding garage set in the Club Room Saturday night. Hard crowd to please in there, but I loved it! Niki for stickers, pigs, and introducing me to Eyor (I swear to god that's what you said)! Craig for flashing props that sent my ears to sleep, Monk for shiny conversation, Doris for big hugs and Mickey/Dolly/Daffy Duck for smiley faces and giggles and (at last - been a long time coming) more than once sentence at a time. I never realised he could actually talk or how much glasses suited him!! ttfn. xx.

Not having made it yet to one of yer little doos yet - I was just go thro' some of yer thumbnail photos to see wat u lot woz like - and I was suddenly struck by Kaya's more than passing resemblance to - Nick Cotton - what with his(Nick's) sudden reappearance on East Enders + Kaya's cryptic comments about rejoining the working class, i.e no longer resting between parts - the question is this is Kaya and Nick Cotton one and the same person? Afternoon maaaates, I'm finally home after an unexpected extra nights stopover in Great Yarmouth. Thanks to all our Soulmaates for their superb company and another superb Caister. Thanks to Ian (Mortimer) and Chris (Alexander) for looking after me in Yarmouth last nite - good doo at Tipples, we'll spread the word and make it a regular after-Caister event! Thanks also to Monkey and Dawn for an entertaining breakfast and making sure I got home safe...... Hi to any new Soulboys.co.uk participants - welcome, enjoy the site and please join in. I'll be archiving the page, updating the gigs and resetting the Caister countdown as soon as me huge mountain of e-mail has stopped arriving. What an excellent Caister! I am not sure whar went on, but I have bruises in the strangest places. I have very little voice left and somebody has stolen one of my lungs. It was great to see everyone, although I can't say I remember...but the photo's will jog all of our memories! Be warned!
