Time for a new guestbook i think, takes too long too load
ROWAN at 22:29:7 Thursday April 16 98
Hi, ne1 fancy coming to the IDLEWILD / SEAFOOD gig on the 7th of may at the london garage??
HeadCleaner at 8:8:51 Thursday April 16 98
Yep, both next week and the 27th look like being decent - which is not before time: the singles market's been a bit quiet lately. I'll scan the sig for you soon Rowan, but I don't think I've got any other Idlewild pics.
rowan at 22:31:22 Wednesday April 15 98
never heard any lodger stuff..but would that 'next week' be 20th april? the two i mentioned come out on the 27. Any chance of scanning some idlewild pics please please please? + the signiture that you got.? ta
HeadCleaner at 18:33:38 Wednesday April 15 98
Lodger are my new favourite band. It's gonna take a pretty special single next week to top "I'm Leaving".
Rowan at 18:27:31 Wednesday April 15 98
Gomez aren't really THAT good. Anon, I hope for your sake you were joking
Greg. at 21:25:24 Tuesday April 14 98
I've heard of Ooberman they've got an excellent live reputation in Liverpool. I'm pissed off I never had the foresight to go and see Gomez pre indie fame.
Anon at 21:23:43 Tuesday April 14 98
My favorite North & South songs :
1) Breathe
2)Tarantino's new star
3)Man NOT a boy
4)No sweat, theme to bbc programme of the same name. Half hour of fresh faced fun and frolics every tuesday at 5pm.
rowan at 20:30:24 Tuesday April 14 98
emmm....I think that warm jets single is actually pretty cool (better than the last one) it's a shame for the fans who like to collect their singles that they keep re-releasing songs. Has anyone here heard the new 6 by 7 single 'candlelight'? its bloody awesome and keith, if you were to review it on april 27th, I fear it may beat the new idlewild single into second place.
HeadCleaner at 13:18:38 Tuesday April 14 98
Well, they're better than Shed Seven...
dom at 12:38:40 Tuesday April 14 98
i think Hanson are great and i love them!!!!!!!!!!!
HeadCleaner at 8:14:6 Tuesday April 14 98
Even I'm allowed a holiday every now and again...new single reviews should be up tonight.
Rowan at 21:58:10 Monday April 13 98
where are the new single reviews? is keith dead or something, he hasn't signed this for a while.
Rowan at 18:19:39 Monday April 13 98
TWAN> check out my Idlewild page - http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/4546/main.html . for Idlewild tour dates, there should be one near you. (note: that address is case sensitive)
Anon> Hogwash farm was a good song but I havn't heard anything else by them
TWAN at 1:28:39 Monday April 13 98
does anyone know when idlewild or foil is playing next
twan
Anon at 20:26:22 Sunday April 12 98
Select or one where uneasy with the Patty patty sound. Rowan do you like Dawn of the Replicants, I haven't heard muh by them.
rowan at 19:6:39 Saturday April 11 98
hang on...keith> why did you review the gomez one this week when it was released last week? have you done that before?
Rowan at 19:5:41 Saturday April 11 98
tell you what= Seafood are a bloody, bloody good band. Go and buy there first two (and only two) singles now (7" only) honestly you won't be disappointed!!
Anon at 18:2:14 Friday April 10 98
MANTRA are supporting O898 and Untitled at the Cavern club (Matthew st. Liverpool) on Monday 13th April at 1pm. Come and give us your support.
Rowan at 15:59:32 Friday April 10 98
I've only seen brilliant reviews for the paaty patty sound- who gave it bad press?
Rowan at 14:44:52 Friday April 10 98
I was raving about the beta band ages ago and its nice to see you lot catching on! Inner meet me and she's the one are the best on the patty patty sound. Gomez are pretty average basically.
Nick at 20:21:21 Thursday April 9 98
I can only assume Gomez sound a lot better on record than live.
To be fair support bands get crap sound so that may be it. I wasn't
that impressed by their single but they must be good to be getting
these reviews.
twan at 3:8:30 Wednesday April 8 98
plug for EGG
if anyone is interested, a new web site has landed, which feature sights and sounds of gigs in Edinburgh
It is called EGG (Edinburgh Gig Guide ) and is previewing and reviewing quality gigs in Edinburgh
check it out

Greg. at 22:19:36 Tuesday April 7 98
Gomez are supposed to be really good, yet I've only heard mixed reviews of the Beta Band, 'The Patty patty sound' is it anygood? Does anyone own it? Spice girls annouce mysterious press conference hope it's not to split. The world will be a duller place.
Andrew Doran at 11:9:6 Tuesday April 7 98
Hiya - I heard Gomez for the first time at the weekend. A pal of mine was raving about them and I have to say they sounded pretty damn good. But then he played me 'Inner Meet Me' by the Beta Band and it blew my bloody socks off!
Cheers - Andrew
Nick at 19:46:48 Monday April 6 98
I can't believe Gomez are getting the reviews they are. I saw them as a support band
in December and they were atrocious.
ian fae chi at 17:8:51 Saturday April 4 98
Why don't you review our cd "Sincerity is a boy called del" I'll send you a copy if you're too stingy to buy one. We've been played on Radio 1' Evening Session and John Peel likes us. Unsigned and self funded. check out our web site: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/2267
rowan (a friend of the stars) at 13:33:40 Saturday April 4 98
Hi, any one heard of disco pistol? they're not exactly well known or particularly good for that matter but they have been in the nme a few times. Ne way, their lead singer is a friend of mine and we regularly chat over the internet (in the 'phonics room) 6pm tonight if ne1 cares to join us
Greg at 13:7:27 Saturday April 4 98
Oasis are about as misunderstood as 911.
rowan at 18:21:2 Friday April 3 98
guess what, some members of idlewild have visited my page and e-mailed me giving me 'inside info' they got the link from your page keith. yahoo won't let me add my site to it!?!?!?!? please help.
Guy at 10:17:55 Friday April 3 98
Carrie? That stupid annoying transvestite song? That's all I've heard but they can't get much worse. I actually like Oasis, I think the songs are as inspiring and as good quality as any other indie/rock group around at the minute (apart from the Stereophonics of course!). I also think they're misunderstood. They'll be an article about it soon on my website (when it finally goes up).
Greg at 22:26:18 Thursday April 2 98
Ok, Ocean colour scene aren't bad most people jump on the l'lets be fasionable and hate them vibe' but they're ok. Embrace are a better alternative to Oasis who are crap and Blur are ace. Anybody heard of Carrie? California screaming is absolutely brilliant.
rowan at 20:52:53 Thursday April 2 98
at least 3 of the bands you mentioned rob, are total toss. Ocean coour scene are so boring it hurts, embrace are just plain rubbish and shed seven simply make you want to laugh and be sick at the same time. And Oasis songs all sound the same and noel only knows one fucking guitar solo
Rob at 13:57:37 Thursday April 2 98
Kula Shaker are my favourite group, followed by Embrace. Other groups I like are: Oasis, All Saints, Shed Seven, Ocean Colour Scene, U2 and Blur.
Guy at 9:39:31 Thursday April 2 98
Fanzine up in two weeks' time (after easter). It's undergone a re-design already and no-one's even seen it yet! College webmasters are lazy sods, don't know whether I'll be able to update it weekly. Possibly bi-weekly.
rowan at 18:16:49 Wednesday April 1 98
Just seeing if you were paying attention!
Guy at 9:39:50 Wednesday April 1 98
Rowan, I've just been to the Hybirds guestbook. When you sign in most people tell them why they like the band, not list 200 bands better than them!
rowan at 20:22:49 Tuesday March 31 98
keith> thanks for the pic. I didn't think much of the smiles but gomez are ok. I got their single basically cos i like buying bands debut singles. Has anyone heard the seafood 'scorched comfort' single- it's really very good! Anyone know where to get uresi yatsura stuff?
Guy at 13:56:25 Tuesday March 31 98
Also, just bought The Shirehorse's album, absoloutly classic! Best song is undoubtably 'Joe's F***ed Off', followed by Babybloke's 'You're a Bastard'. Fantastic.
Guy at 13:31:17 Tuesday March 31 98
I saw The Smiles on TFI, and I thought they were quite good. BTW, call me thick, but I don't actually know what (sic) means? Someone...?
Greg. at 21:45:23 Monday March 30 98
Travis are sotw !!!! Listen to 'more than us' and weep manfully into your beer. What do people think of Gomez, who seem to be causing a stir, and The Smiles who release 'Say something' this week? ciao.
rowan at 20:56:53 Sunday March 29 98
hey, urusei yatsura are really cool.....wow
HeadCleaner at 15:40:28 Saturday March 28 98
Rowan - I'll try and get SP scanned and mailed to you in a day or two. Thanks for the compliments guys. I've seen Indieworld myself - it excels with its news area and probably gets all the kudos due to that. I publicise this site on the newsgroups usually once a week, and get a lot of positive feedback. Short of taking out an advert in the paper, I dunno what else to do to let people know of HeadCleaner's existence!
Rowan at 13:20:40 Saturday March 28 98
Have ne of you heard of the site 'indieworld' apart from having news of new up and coming releases, it's not as good as this site and reviews far less singles. Yet it's got loads of endorsment and awards etc. Keith> you need to think of better ways of promoting this site.
Greg. at 20:55:44 Friday March 27 98
Guy , I know what you mean, aprt form the occasional person who leaves a message e.g. our mate Rob it's just me you Rowan and Keith. It's an ace site, you'd think that people would always be logging on??
Greg O'Keeffe. at 20:53:29 Friday March 27 98
Come on then Rob what floats your boat apart from Kula Shaker, Oasis?? I presume that you're going to classify any acoustic ballad that is released from nowon as a Radiohead rip off are you? More Than us is a fantastic song which is more emotive, and subtle than Kula Shaker could ever be, and before you say anything listen to rock anthems like : U-16 Girls, All I wanna do is rock, The Line is Fine and Happy. BTW you won't actually say what you like becuase you've already managed to annoy everybody.
Rowan at 19:1:32 Friday March 27 98
keith> any chance of sending me a scan of the cover of satan polaroid in jpg format? and could you make it quite small (i.e about 30kb) Someone else is sending me the others but he hasn't got sp.
Rob> what music do you like?
Rowan at 18:59:51 Friday March 27 98
I didn't hear the Travis set but I thouhgt the cats were pretty good. I got the first uresi yatsura (sic probably) today its good.
Guy at 12:35:38 Friday March 27 98
Just been looking through the message archives, have we scared everyone off or something? There used to be loads of people leave messages on the board, no there's only four of us.
The Imginatively Titled Fanzine at 12:8:12 Friday March 27 98
Don't worry, it's only me again (Guy). Just another note to say the fanzine is on the college intranet for testing and will be on-line late next week.
Guy at 12:2:9 Friday March 27 98
Well said Keith. Anyone heard about the Hybirds? Dropped from their record label in a dispute over money. However they are discussing other offers at the minute so they're not disbanding and the new single will be released independantly. Official Hybirds homepage @: http://hybirds.home.ml.org/ Rob- SHUT UP. If you haven't got anything worthwhile to say then say nothing. And your language offends me. For the sake of peace and respect, please cut the violent swearing out.
HeadCleaner at 11:5:55 Friday March 27 98
Disagreement's fine (and often healthy), but let's not run around insulting each other all the time, huh?
HeadCleaner at 10:47:28 Friday March 27 98
You can say what you like, but not necessarily here. Tone down the aggro or your messages will be removed.
Rob at 10:7:3 Friday March 27 98
F*** off. I'll say what I like. Travis were REAL BAD Wednesday night, and Idlewild are shit. That new single, 'More Than Us' is just a f***ing Radiohead rip-off.
Greg. at 22:32:9 Thursday March 26 98
Rob, chill out mate! As for The Manics, fave album : Everything must go (complete catharsis) fave singles : We Love Us, and Motorcycle emptiness. Did you hear Travis on the radio, 'As you are' is a grower.
Rowan at 21:0:4 Thursday March 26 98
I for one thought that Idlewild's set on Radio 1 was brilliant. The songs were about twice as fast! There was so much energy
Rowan at 18:23:47 Thursday March 26 98
looks like we've got a few disagreements going on here...I think the Holy Bible is by far the best one. Then EMG, GOLD, GT. Kula shaka...em, hey dude is good and a lot of last albums singles are good but the new ones shite.
HeadCleaner at 15:0:18 Thursday March 26 98
Nothing like a well-argued, constructive point of view...
Rob at 13:46:48 Thursday March 26 98
What do you mean 'There's no excuse for Kula Shaker'? They're one of the finest bands every to come out of Britain. I have to say that Idlewild are f***ing useless, and the Hybirds are just plain average. Don't go slagging off bands when you like shit yourselves. W**kers.
Guy at 12:50:46 Thursday March 26 98
Again, I have to disagree. I love the Manics, yes, but I think the early stuff was crap. I prefer Everything Must Go.
HeadCleaner at 8:6:47 Thursday March 26 98
There is no excuse for Kula Shaker. Idlewild look like being a matter of taste. I for one love them - they remind me of Psychocandy-era Mary Chain crossed with The Pixies - 2 of my all-time favourite bands. To say they have no tunes is unfair - hidden beneath the guitar frenzy and the screaming there are more tunes than the likes of Ian Broudie can even imagine. As for the Manics, they are pretty much faultless. What's your favourite MSP LP? Mine still remains "Generation Terrorists". Fantastic.
rowan at 18:44:35 Wednesday March 25 98
what's everyones opinion on the manics? i think they're supurb
rowan at 15:58:35 Wednesday March 25 98
you can't appreciate idlewild simpley hearing them play live, you have to be there experiencing it
rowan at 15:57:29 Wednesday March 25 98
guy/greg> it's not meant to be a beautiful sound. back me up here keith!
Guy at 9:33:57 Wednesday March 25 98
'The Sound of Trash'. Have to say, Idlewild appear on the free NME CD last week, playing 'You Just Have to be Who You Are' live, and it sounds pretty awful. The again it was at the Brats and someone did say they were bad there. But to be honest it doesn't sound like my sort of thing anyway.
Greg. at 22:10:54 Tuesday March 24 98
Yeah I suppose that's it. What do you all thing of 'The Sound of drums' by Kula shaker?
ROWAN at 19:25:9 Tuesday March 24 98
Greg> i guess it's just a matter of taste. 'last night i missed all the fireworks'
Anon at 18:55:32 Tuesday March 24 98
BTWA Saying that there was an element of fuck you rocknroll about the whole set. Oh I don't know.
Anon at 18:54:25 Tuesday March 24 98
BTW I can never forsee Idlewild being big unless they make better quality tunes.
Greg. at 18:52:55 Tuesday March 24 98
I've got to totally disagree with you. I went to the Evening session tour last night. Idlewild were average, and when a tune shone through quite good but the singer is too interested in ruffling his hair and crawling about on the floor. Netherless I loved 'Last night I didn't start a fire'(is that right?) and 'You just have to be who you are.' Catatonia were superb. Cerys is a real entertainer with an amazing voice and their brand of guitar pop bristling with tune is ace. 'International velvet' is ace. Travis were good, but seemingly plagued by electrical probs. BTW The Idlewild bass player is a fool. He smashed his bass in cool who-esque style, then stands completely crushed head in hands as the rest of the band troup off.
Rowan at 18:29:31 Tuesday March 24 98
Keith> are you gonna get idlewild's captain? i also recommend you get the other 2 singles (you probably won't be able to get hold of the 1st one) DO it! THERE GONNA BE BIG
rowan at 18:28:13 Tuesday March 24 98
GUY> CHECK OUT THE MAP RECORDS HOMEPAGE (NEW IN) AT http://www.maprecords.co.uk they have about four versions of man don't give a fuck.
Rowan at 18:25:33 Tuesday March 24 98
Keith> yeah that's the one, it's actually 'you think this film is about you, it isn't abput ypu' there's a clip on my page. Can I use the scan on my page? GUY> if you want sfa 'dont give a fuck' check out the back pages of nme, its usually there for around 15 quid.
Guy at 13:39:22 Tuesday March 24 98
Desperate for a copy of the Super Furry's "The Man Don't Give a F***!" Top prices paid. Let me know personally.
Guy at 13:37:54 Tuesday March 24 98
I'm in shock. I DJ'ed an 18th birthday party on Saturday and one of my clever assistants managed to trip over the power lead. BANG! Managed to get the equipment working again but never recovered the volume. Then on the last song (Righteous Brothers) my other assistant managed to bang the table. SCREEEECH! across the vinyl. Never mind.
HeadCleaner at 10:43:36 Tuesday March 24 98
Didn't catch the new song titles, Rowan, but the one that went on about "you think this song is about you, but it's not about you" (just like Carly Simon!!) was ace. I also got Rob Idlewild's autograph! (look for the scan soon...)
rowan at 20:50:34 Monday March 23 98
ian brown's a terrible singer but corpses has a good tune
rowan at 19:47:35 Monday March 23 98
Keith> the new single's pretty cool eh? (film for the future)
Please could you all visit my test voting forum to see if it works!> http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/4546/voting.html . It seems to have broken again. I do think catatonia's 'road rage' single is actually pretty good and probably deserves 8/10 depending on the b-sides. please test the voting forum but the rest of the page is not up till wednesday
HeadCleaner at 9:35:42 Monday March 23 98
I saw Idlewild last night - they were bone-crunchingly awesome as ever. Catatonia were a shrieking boring caterwaul, and I had to leave before Travis came on. I doubt they could have come close to Idlewild's brilliance however.
Greg. at 19:18:7 Saturday March 21 98
I said on the brats tv show they were terrible, but I cannae judge them on that! I'll just take 'em as they are. I'm seeing Travis and Catatonia. Sure I'll do a review, anything to get some ink.
Greg. at 19:13:28 Saturday March 21 98

greg at 14:43:21 Saturday March 21 98
I thought you said they were terrible. (idlewild) How about a review for my page? please. Just remeber, it ain't meant to be pretty...
Greg at 21:17:24 Friday March 20 98
The Hybirds are great, nice one Guy.
Rowan, I'm off to see Idlewild on monday, hope they're as good as you say.
later.
rowan at 18:49:5 Friday March 20 98
hybirds are a bit average for my liking. Finally got hold of a copy of chaplin on 7" today- mint condition. Guy, I think the 7" was 500 only and the cd was about 1200 or so. P.s the beta band ep is great, esp. tracks 1 and 4
Guy at 12:9:51 Friday March 20 98
Hybirds official homepage at: http://hybirds.home.ml.org/ Check it out!
Guy at 13:13:51 Thursday March 19 98
Cool!
Rowan at 21:52:32 Wednesday March 18 98
Guy- did you realise that the resissue 7" of local boy was only press 300 times and record stores are charging £15 for it! glad I got it earlt
Guy at 9:27:35 Wednesday March 18 98
Oh they don't.
Guy at 9:26:50 Wednesday March 18 98
Hey! Didn't realise field codes worked in here! Italics bold underline Ahem. Excuse me, I just had to play. Guy.
Guy at 9:25:4 Wednesday March 18 98
That's the bad news. It's not up yet externally. It has to be on the college intranet first, for a trial period. This will be for a period of 1-2 weeks, but I'll be doing my best to, ahem, get it up as soon as possible. I've just finished writing this week's single reviews- they're, erm... a bit weak. I don't think you've got anything to worry about Keith! I'll let you know when it's online. Anyway, back to music. Isn't Kula Shaker's new single absoloutly abysmal?
rowan at 14:10:54 Tuesday March 17 98
guy..what's the address of your fanzine?
Rowan at 14:8:15 Tuesday March 17 98
For the first few months of me visiting the page, I didn't actually realise that there was a guestbook,,,
HeadCleaner at 10:45:1 Monday March 16 98
HeadCleaner gets about 15-20 hits a day, upwards of that on a Monday and Tuesday when the new reviews are out. And I guess the other people that surf on in here are just shy, or don't plan on coming back.
Guy at 9:49:25 Monday March 16 98
Sorry it's me again, but what's the hits per day on this site, and how come it's only us four that use this notice board?
Guy at 9:48:27 Monday March 16 98
Bought the Hybirds Album- Very Impressive. See my fanzine for the review.
Guy at 9:46:39 Monday March 16 98
OK, I've nominated Headcleaner. THE IMAGINATIVELY TITLED FANZINE will be on line later this week. Later today if I have my way...
rowan at 17:26:10 Sunday March 15 98
don't forget 25th march
rowan at 10:2:10 Saturday March 14 98
ok, thanks it works! Guy- ok computer isn't MASSIVELY over rated, it's still brilliant. let's face it it's on another level to travis or stereophonics.
rowan at 18:16:16 Friday March 13 98
I need afavour. As you may or may not know, I removed my idlewild page (but it will be back on march 25th- same address) I need you to go to this address: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/4546/voting.html -and vote. I don't think it'll work but try it. cheers
HeadCleaner at 14:52:6 Friday March 13 98
Go on - vote for HeadCleaner in the Yell web awards (best online publication category) - http://www.yell.co.uk/yell/yellawards/
If we win we might get so famous that we could interview Shed Seven.
Guy at 12:13:57 Friday March 13 98
My knowledge is that shallow I can't even fill in one of these stupid forms properly...
Guy at 12:12:15 Friday March 13 98
Quite frankly I haven't got a hope in hell of competing with anyone- My knowledge of notepad language is very shallow and I have NO tools at home to do anything other than convert pictures. Also, my football club's site is going up soon (also written by me), complete with pictures, so you can all finally find out what I look like (well, in footy strip anyway).
Guy at 12:12:7 Friday March 13 98

Mind you, this is the best one, of course.
HeadCleaner at 11:55:33 Friday March 13 98
No problem Guy - you can compete with this one if you like. At the risk of sounding like some bunch of sh'tehawks like Bis, the more zines out there the better...!
Guy at 11:21:34 Friday March 13 98
I'm thinking about buying the Hybird's album tonight. I was very impressed with them on the Brats' shows on C4. I don't normally buy an album on the basis of one song, but I have a hunch about these. I've heard of the Beta Band, but not actually heard THEM. Greg- calm down mate. As I'm here, just thought I'd let you know my fanzine should be online nect week with a bit of luck. Complete with a link to this one to show I'm not trying to compete. I just want a way of putting my views across to the world. It seemed like the best way.
rowan at 20:59:20 Thursday March 12 98
the beta band.....
rowan at 20:58:49 Thursday March 12 98
to be honest i havn't really heard the hybirds much. The albums recieved some excellent and some shit reviews. friends of mine said that their recent brat show was simply excruciatingly (sic) bad. em...
Greg. at 19:18:37 Thursday March 12 98
Welcome to the 'build your own website board' previously known as the 'headboard' where music was discussed. The Hybirds anybody?
HeadCleaner at 9:51:35 Thursday March 12 98
Rowan - the guestbook is provided by UKOnline, my ISP. If you wanted to do the same thing yourself, you'd need to get your hands dirty with cgi script (or go with UKOnline, I suppose). A lot of ISP's don't allow members to write their own cgi scripts. Guy - yep, I think ALPP decided they were a little too important to take my questions too seriously. I did subsequently get an email from Michael Guarrine saying he liked what HeadCleaner was doing and to keep up the good work though. Sheesh - those crazy rock stars.
Guy at 9:25:52 Thursday March 12 98
Love the size of the font on the ALPP interview, are they really that thick you couldn't get a detailed reply to each question? Seems to me they didn't take you too seriously?
ROWAN at 22:18:13 Wednesday March 11 98
how do you make a nice customised guestbook like this?
Guy at 9:28:38 Wednesday March 11 98
Don't worry Keith. Although my page is not on line yet I'm starting to build up some archives, so I started reviewing singles this week. I gave SOTW to The Wombles. It's a very average week.
HeadCleaner at 21:18:10 Tuesday March 10 98
Yes, I do. I have my own definition of alternative music. It is an alternative to all the cack which I don't like.
rowan at 18:47:25 Tuesday March 10 98
spice girls single of the week (again) call yourself 'the uk based alternative music e-zine'?

Ok, I'll agree with you on that one rowan. Still not bought 'Good Feeling' yet. Next week maybe. Have you heard 'Pleased to Meet You' by Sleeper? It's fantastic. Hey everyone, I'm putting together a fanzine of my own (not to compete with this one obviously), so if anyone wants to contribute articles, album reviews, gig reviews etc, mail them to me as Text files at the usual address. Also, does anyone know of anwhere that can host my web page for free? If not, it won't be on line 'till October at the earliest.

OK COMPUTER ISN'T AS FUCKING OVER RATED AS GASP...URBAN HYMNS"!!!!??? SHIIIITTTT
Greg. at 21:10:31 Friday March 6 98
TRAVIS !
rowan at 18:34:48 Friday March 6 98
i'm a guitar player (from london)... the bends is better than ok computer- have you heard it guy? symposium are rubbish, almost as bad as...midget!
Rob at 11:46:45 Friday March 6 98
Ironic? No I wasn't.
Guy at 10:40:4 Friday March 6 98
Hello Luke, I'm from Leicester. Unfortunatley I can't play anything. So that's put an end to that. Heck, it's my ambition to be in a band, but God says otherwise. Where abouts in Leicester are you from? I'm from Oadby. (shithole I know)
Luke at 15:6:33 Thursday March 5 98
I have been playing guitar self taught for five years. I am currently looking for musicians to form a band. I think my guitar playing leaves alot to be desired but I think I am possibly at my most creative right now and need to experiment playing in bands to work off ideas onother people. Any tips or anyone Local to Leicester willing to get in contact and give it a bash, all it would take is the right mix of people to get a great band going. Influences Blur, Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, Ben Holds Five, etc.
Guy at 9:35:51 Wednesday March 4 98
I don't see what the problem is with Symposium. As far as I can see they write positive, upbeat and interesting music. Or is that the problem? That seems to be the thing with the British Music Industry at the minute, everyone likes moaning, boring, tedious music (radiohead, portishead, the verve aren't very uplifting). Johnny Foriegner would think we are in the middle of a depression. Also, I bought OK Computer a couple of weeks ago and even with continuous listening I think it is the most over-rated piece of trumped up shit ever to have graced the earth. Album of the year? Pah! Over-rated piece of shit of the year? MOST DEFINATLEY.
HeadCleaner at 8:19:59 Wednesday March 4 98
If I get positive feedback about the look of the front page, then I will change the rest of the site. And it is your Idlewild pic, yes (but then you nicked it from the NME..!!)
rowan at 21:54:29 Tuesday March 3 98
just refreshed the main page. its cool, will you change the whole of the rest of the site?? is that 'my' idlewild pic??
rowan at 21:52:28 Tuesday March 3 98
the only all saint i really fancy is nat (the nice blonde one)
Nick at 20:2:10 Tuesday March 3 98
I have to say that new Symposium single has been done so many times before if there was someone out there counting just how many times it had been done they would probably be using the powers of 10 button on their calculator by now. Symposium just are the epitomy of indie dulldom! PS That Therapy single is brilliant
Greg. at 19:53:48 Tuesday March 3 98
All saints are the only girl band whose music is not simply the crap soundtrack to their image. However they are gorgeous. As for Backstreet boys, they're quite amusing. They really are, check out the guy who weras the hat because he is going bald. He looks like super 70's supa fly pimp. Rob I hope you were being ironic in your statement btw. ciao.
HeadCleaner at 15:46:0 Tuesday March 3 98
I have a new front page design for HeadCleaner - hopefully it will go up tonight. At the moment, the rest of the site will stay as it is, as changing it is a mammoth task. That's not to say it won't change however, especially if the new front page proves successful. Message ends.
Rob at 13:27:14 Tuesday March 3 98
Well if you like it that way...
rowan at 20:58:1 Monday March 2 98
oh god OCS...what utter utter utter utter utter utter shiiiitttttteeeeee. BOOOOORRRRIIINNNNNGGG YAWWWWN YAAWWWN. And in my opinion Rob, all saints bodies are a darn sight more attractive than the backarse boys
HeadCleaner at 14:52:10 Monday March 2 98
Hmmm...Kula Shaker still refuse to convince me, I'm afraid. Though I can see where you're coming from - if you like your music retro, they're a damn sight better than OCS. I for one have had the All Saints LP on my walkman all last week - the music's cool (with the possible exception of that Chili Peppers cover).
Rob at 9:53:52 Monday March 2 98
Hi everyone I'm back. I lost the page address. This time I've bookmarked it. I wasn't very impressed with your marks for Kulka Shaker headcleaner, they're a bit unfair. Surely Tattva was SOTW that week? You lot are sexist. I like All Saints because of their music, not their bodies. I prefer the Backstreet Boys for their bodies!
Guy at 9:32:24 Monday March 2 98
Just been looking through the old single reviews, wasn't Forbidden City by Electronic excellent? I'll have to fish that one out again when I get home.
Guy at 9:23:48 Monday March 2 98
I'm not gonna be roped into any childish arguements. Funnily enough I heard of both the Stereophonics and Nicotines on that same CD (it's the only time I buy music mags!), and liked Mary Wana (no, not literally) so I want to find out more about them. Headswim are shite.
rowan at 20:30:0 Saturday February 28 98
i've just got my copy of best wishes and i'm a bit dissapointed, it's not as good as same band or floodlit world :>(
rowan at 18:10:29 Saturday February 28 98
they admittidly wern't up to their usual high live standards at the brat show, but i havn't seen a bad live review of them yet....any way, they're not meant to be clean
Greg at 21:1:26 Friday February 27 98
Hey! Symposium are actually not that bad! I like a few of the singles. Guy, 'The Nicotines' are ace, they are v. quiet at the moment though. Mary wana and Planet x were cool. I first heard the stereophonics & nicotines on a free Q cd ages ago. BTW I've only ever seen Idlewild once on The NME Brats and they were awful, just plain bad. Ultrasound were good though, I heard them do 'Stay Young.'
rowan at 19:13:16 Friday February 27 98
idlewild and ultrasound are the best two new bands around at the moment.
rowan at 19:11:59 Friday February 27 98
headcleaner has his head screwed on about ultrasound guy. I didn't actually know that you didn't like ultrasound so i wasn't taking anything personally. But Symposium area pile of shit
HeadCleaner at 14:52:54 Friday February 27 98
Guy, I can't stress enough how much better Ultrasound are live than they are on record (going on what they've released so far). Idlewild I would definitely recommend, especially if that kind of thing is your bag. HeadCleaner gave "Planet X" by The Nicotines SOTW a while back. Also, Later With Jools Holland tonight (12.45 BBC2) features a repeat of the 'Phonics appearance.
Guy at 11:26:40 Friday February 27 98
I haven't heard Idlewild yet either, I thought I had but I hadn't, so I'll be trying to locate these this week.
Guy at 11:21:29 Friday February 27 98
Sorry rowan, you're right. It was August. What I meant was I bought it in October. Symposium album review on its way as well. Rowan I wish you wouldn't take everything so personally- I'm only expressing my views. Ultrasound might be good but I haven't heard enough stuff to formulate an opinion yet. It's just what I've heard I really don't like. In fact, come to think about it I haven't heard any new bands since the magazine 'Sessions' went bust last year. It was a great mag for new bands, and with a free CD every week represented freat value for money. Pity it only lasted 7 issues.
rowan at 21:21:39 Thursday February 26 98
its a lot to ask but is there any chance of 1 of you giving my page the once over and telling me which links/ pictures/ or home links aren't working? cheers
Rowan at 20:37:9 Thursday February 26 98
Oh yeah, GUY, in your WGA review, you said that it was released in October. This is infact utter nonsense as it was actually released in late August.
rowan at 20:35:49 Thursday February 26 98
There's no doubt that Ultrasound are one of, if not the strongest new band on the scene and I agree that best wishes is by no means up to the standard of 'same band' or indeed 'floodlit world'. I wish that they would recreate more of a live sound when recording in the studio....Infact I pray they do.
Guy at 13:50:27 Thursday February 26 98
Doh! I think we're drifting apart... where's Rob these days? Sorry that link on the WGA review should have been .co.uk, not .com! Anyone know of any good aspiring new bands? Haven't heard any I like since Stereophonics. Anyone know of the Nicotines?
Gregov. at 21:3:34 Wednesday February 25 98
Ha ha ha ha. I had you all fooled then with my twee ironic witicism didn't I? Maybe not. Ok, Natalie Imbruglia wannabe indie chick! Hasta luego compadres.
Gregov. at 21:1:45 Wednesday February 25 98
I am from Liverpool and I don't like Space, but to be fair I haven't really heard the song yet. Cerys seems a nice enough lass. Guy you like Space that much?? Oh yeah whats wrong with Shed Seven? I think they rock! As do Cast! Kula Shaker and Savage garden.
HeadCleaner at 18:41:44 Wednesday February 25 98
Your review is linked to your page now, Rowan.
rowan at 15:50:34 Wednesday February 25 98
i agree wiv keith
link????
HeadCleaner at 12:36:7 Wednesday February 25 98
Good grief. He'll be saying he likes Shed Seven next...
Guy (Angry) at 11:4:23 Wednesday February 25 98
What the hell's up with you? Haven't you got a sense of humour? The Ballad of Tom Jones is already Single of the Year! It's a true classic. Space are fantastic and the song is just so brilliant! LISTEN TO THE LYRICS. It's just so ironic and funny. Sorry Keith but I really do protest. Either put the mark up to 10/10 or I might not visit this page again. Then again that might just be a lame threat. The voices work together perfectly and the video is just superb! This time I really do disagree completely. I would have thought this would be SOTW at least, if not SOTY. Sorry but I just can't shut up about it- it's brilliant. Bye. I've finished now. I think. Bye. I may never darken your doors again...
Nick Sim at 20:53:15 Tuesday February 24 98
Just thought I'd throw my 2 pence worth in. I saw Embrace in
December and while they are outrageously overrated and sub-Oasis
they aren't actually bad live. Nice loud bouncy tunes but nothing
special really. More worrying was the support band Gomez who
were terrible and I've started to hear on Radio 1!And they
are awful! I believe in music for fun and sexy ladies so
All Saints and that Natalie Imbruglia single rule. As for
Ultrasound...I don't really like the single but I've got one
of their songs on an NME tape it rocks.
rowan at 19:52:48 Tuesday February 24 98
oh yeah, any chance of putting a link to my idlewild page on the captain review page?
rowan at 19:52:5 Tuesday February 24 98
chat worked for a minute then sort of stopped.... i agree with you keith about ultrasound- they're so much better live. and space (as in its a shit song)
Guy at 13:35:57 Tuesday February 24 98
Doh! I won't.
rowan at 20:21:18 Sunday February 22 98
i'll be there.. hopefully
HeadCleaner at 19:33:21 Sunday February 22 98
Anyone fancy a chat at 9pm tomorrow night then?
Greg O'Keeffe at 18:56:33 Sunday February 22 98
Looks like I've missed a few heated debates lately. Firsttly Guy, Rowan thanks for the reviews (Guy you rascal you had to get the dig in about Travis/Phonic chart places in didn't you!) Secondly Robert your comment about Travis was a bit silly wasn't it really. 'They just scribble down anything that comes into their heads.' Come on! If you can't think of anything sensible to say don't say anything. It's like me saying 'Nah nah Embrace are a bunch of miserable pofaced gits who stink so there!' Of course they're not, and never actually having met them I am completely unaware of their personal hygenic situation. Indeed All Saints are a bunch of sexy ladies, 'Never ever' is distinctly listenable but I cannot like Kula Shaker. Did anyone catch Cockney rebel on topt2? 'Come up and see me' is ace. Luego.
rowan at 12:55:14 Sunday February 22 98
no, er got it working now!
rowan at 12:44:59 Sunday February 22 98
me (again) please check the page i think its all working except the title on the reviews section (and the home link doesnt work from reviews.) p.s when the page comes up blank (white) it means i havn't created a page there.
please sign the guestbook
ROWAN at 21:27:3 Saturday February 21 98
JUST THOUGHT I'D LET YOU KNOW, I THINK THE PAGE IS WORKING.
rowan at 20:15:15 Saturday February 21 98
how about organising a chat time?
rowan at 18:50:52 Saturday February 21 98
maybe it just doesn't work for me.....
rowan at 18:50:14 Saturday February 21 98
I have moved my page now. the address is: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/4546/main.html at the moment there's only reviews, live and discog up. ALSO PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME IF WHEN YOU ARE ON ONE OF THOSE PAGE, YOU ARE ABLE OR NOT TO GET BACK TO THE MAIN PAGE BY USING THE 'HOME' LINK AT THE BOTTOM. I can't seem to. also try entering my page giving the address without the /main.html bit at the end and see if it works
HeadCleaner at 16:2:46 Saturday February 21 98
New LP reviews (Idlewild and Stereophonics) are up - as is HeadChat, the chat facility.
HeadCleaner at 15:30:23 Saturday February 21 98
I've archived the messages again - as you've probably noticed. Should speed the loading of this page up. Rowan - I checked out the page - discog link worked fine when I was there.
