Page is a bit slow again Keith...
Guy at 14:39:58 Saturday August 28 99
Yeah, it's cool. But it's also got the lyric "New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits"... (I wonder why you didn't mention that?)
Greg O again at 14:26:46 Friday August 27 99
Has anybody heard 'Summer girls' by L.F.O. with the lyrics 'I like girls that wear Abercombie & Finch' - it's got a hip hop beat, and laid back acoustic guitar. It's the song of the summer so far.
Greg at 14:17:47 Friday August 27 99
Hey, Elastica are bollocks and drafting in Mark E Smith is a cynical ploy to appear hip. The new Gomez single 'Rythmn & Blues alibi' is pretty cool.
Rowan at 2:42:40 Thursday August 26 99
I feel like a bacon sandwich.......anyway, got band practice tomorrow (well today technically). Good
Guy at 18:45:6 Wednesday August 25 99
Personally I don't think any of this week's singles are worth more than 5/10. (And YES that does include the Stereophonics). It's a crime that they've released I Wouldn't believe... when there's T-Shirt Suntan, Plastic California and Roll Up and Shine which are all 100 times better. And their b-sides are beggining to annoy me too. http://talk.to/da_hand
Rowan at 18:44:2 Tuesday August 24 99
There we go again... I think I'll probably check elastica out at reading, mainly out of curiosity, it being their comeback gig etc..
Robert at 22:28:56 Monday August 23 99
Just found this site,...very nice. Much interesting information for musicians and music lovers here!
I will come back for sure to keep up with it.

There's about another 20 that nearly made it in there as well, along with another 20 that were very close. And pushing them were another 50 or so, so it's not a very accurate top 20. The top 3's indisputable though. (in my own mind)
HeadCleaner at 23:39:6 Saturday August 21 99
One day I'll put up my top 20 too - when I can decide amongst Sex Pistols, Pixies, Nirvana, Ministry and Steps...
Rowan at 16:49:46 Saturday August 21 99
Well, obviously I don't agree with a single song in there. I think my top one would probably be teenage riot by sonic youth (anyone???)
Guy at 16:40:13 Friday August 20 99
If anyone's interested I've put my top 20 favourite songs of all time up at http://web.ukonline.co.uk/guy.walsh/top20.html (not available through my site, you have to copy/paste this address). And no laughing please Rowan, Keith, any bugger else...
Guy at 19:10:48 Thursday August 19 99

My powers don't stretch that far...I can take comments off if they are offensive (or plain crap), but they're usually not that bad (not even Guy's...only kidding)
Rowan at 21:55:3 Friday August 13 99
Can you credit it? What is all this shameless plugging on this page! Do you have any power over what's put on here Keith? yippie, I'm off to Reading :) My mate wanted to go to V99 but the line up is pretty crap.

I Heard Steve Lamaq play Half Miler Adam, and he said it was ace.

HeadCleaner at 6:28:37 Tuesday August 10 99
Didn't see it out...besides, singles depressingly appear to have gone up in price from 2 to 3 quid, meaning I might be a bit choosier from now on. I blame the eclipse.
Guy at 22:58:15 Monday August 9 99
Bloody Hell, I actually agree with Keith on the SOTW! Suprised you didn't review the new 'A' single though.
HeadCleaner at 23:20:55 Friday August 6 99

Rowan at 23:17:23 Friday August 6 99
Should £10 surfice with the tape Keith :) ........
Rowan at 20:40:49 Thursday August 5 99
I'll certainly send in any we do. The vocalist/guitar has some decent contacts so we should be able to get a few gigs. He is also a good friend of Steve Chick of NME fame.
HeadCleaner at 12:58:21 Thursday August 5 99
Everyone should be in a band at least once in their life. Want your demo tapes reviewed ? Send em in...
Rowan at 2:18:24 Thursday August 5 99
Hey, I'm forming a band too. Got a vocalist/guitarist and me (guitar) plus a potentiol bass player and drummer lined up. Obviously being me, it'll blend sonic youth/pavement and pixies. Keep you posted. My it's late...
Guy at 22:39:55 Wednesday August 4 99
Mylene, I thought you'd only just started playing guitar? That's amazing progress!
HeadCleaner at 19:43:57 Tuesday August 3 99
Ace! What do you play/sing/juggle?
Mylene F. Jenius at 18:40:11 Tuesday August 3 99
Woohoo! My and my friend just got a gig playing at an Eclipse Festival. We're called Atomic Soda and if anyone is coming to Cornwall for the eclipse, please come and see us - Coronation Park, Launceston, 14th August. (we rock)
HeadCleaner at 8:37:10 Monday August 2 99
It will be a toss-up between Travis and the Chemical Brothers, I would expect - depends whether I feel mellow or stressed when I get home tonight...
Guy at 23:15:29 Sunday August 1 99
OK, so I was wrong. Travis' album is a masterpiece. 'Why DOes it Always Rain on Me?' SOTW week this week? (Surely it's a foregone conclusion!)

Wooo, Vengaboys! Boom Boom Boom Boom rocks - what amazing lyrics that song has. All other Vengaboys stuff is horrid though.

The Venga Boys - shove it up yer ass.
Mylene F. Jenius at 13:23:47 Sunday July 25 99
Well, y'know. I was tired at the time. 5ive are nightmares anyway. I was at Castle Rock last night watching exciting Cornish bands. *yawn* Rootjoose were playing - I loathe their taste in hats, and their music is very bad. Scared random blokes by singing Fire Bomber at the stage and shouting "ore no uta-o kike!" at the stage between songs. Heehee.

Keith,
Mel c's latest output is quite good, very rock orientated. A big chuggin' riff with sultry vocals. Ha, let's see Lisa do that!
Guy at 22:34:11 Monday July 12 99
Only 7/10 for Steps? You what? Have to agree on the Lisa thing though!

I met Ian Ball from Gomez at work on Monday. He told me an interesting anicdote about being on your with R.E.M. He was so small and skinny!!!!! Nice guy though.
Guy at 10:22:11 Thursday July 8 99
I WAS BORED. I always buy an album when I'm bored!
HeadCleaner at 20:15:39 Wednesday July 7 99
Indeed. Jammycrapwank is Satan's child.
Rowan at 22:41:28 Tuesday July 6 99
Serves you right for buying it!
Guy at 19:20:51 Tuesday July 6 99
Lit's new album gets better with every listen. Unfortunatley, however, Jamiroquai's doesn't.
Rowan at 0:0:53 Tuesday July 6 99
Good good Greg, glad you liked it. I heartedly recommend the immidiate purchase of Messanger in the Camp. Right now. Off you go.
HeadCleaner at 21:46:33 Monday July 5 99
I'm wasted half the time when I'm writing them, if that's what you mean...! Cheers, but.
GREG at 15:31:6 Saturday July 3 99
Rowan you wouldn't possibly be suggesting that I occassionally read an NME review and then try to pass it off as my own informed, cultured indie knowledge would you. Cos I do. I nick loads of stuff from Keith as well, particularly some of his metaphors, the most inventive wacky ones - I'm convinced he's wasted, he should write. Yes, the seafood was ace. Oh, and the NME review reffered to Bakesale as it's sebadoh reference point....so there. cHeers/
Guy at 20:31:5 Friday July 2 99
Lit's new album is fantastic.
Rowan at 11:57:5 Friday July 2 99
Yes, was that NME review a good one? They've only had about 4 or 5 live reviews in NME but they have ALL been excellent. Did you get it then?
GREG. at 21:13:34 Thursday July 1 99
Very sebadoh, from the harmacy album. Which to me is a good thing.
Greg. at 12:5:34 Monday June 28 99
haha. I'm off to HMV to get it, that and possibly the latest red hot chilli pepper's single
Rowan at 16:23:40 Saturday June 26 99
Greg - got it yesterday, there's a really erie and evil sounding live version of 'walking in the air' (you know, the snowman theme :)
Mylene F. Jenius at 11:9:21 Saturday June 26 99
Nice one Guy - tis a very helpful little volume indeed. Rowan - Lupica's the name of my guitar :) (yes I am mad)
Greg. at 22:57:27 Friday June 25 99
Cheers, I will. I think I'll start with the latest single.
Rowan at 13:21:23 Friday June 25 99
Seafood webiste with some (dodgy) sounds: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Hall/6993/
Rowan at 19:59:59 Thursday June 24 99
Well I hate describing music...urm....oh god I don't know. 2 guitars, bass and drums. Songs which go from pixies to mogwai via pavement...Try and track down one of their singles if you can. Or if you're feeling particularly rich, you could try the mini album 'messanger in the camp' on the fierce panda label. (on CD :)
Greg O'Keeffe. at 14:57:44 Thursday June 24 99
Rowan, describe Seafood's music to me?
Guy at 13:8:44 Thursday June 24 99
Too slow Mylene - I subscribed 3 weeks ago!
Rowan at 19:33:21 Tuesday June 22 99
I went to my local Our Price, but obviously they didn't have it. I think I'll probably just order the damn thing. Can't wait for the cover of walking in the air.
Rowan at 19:32:6 Tuesday June 22 99
Lupica? Eh?
Mylene F. Jenius at 18:27:28 Tuesday June 22 99
Guy, you should buy the rather ace Play Guitar magazine, cos it is teaching me to play Lupica (my guitar) quite nicely right now.
HeadCleaner at 9:35:34 Tuesday June 22 99
I searched high and low (well, I went to Virgin *and* HMV), but couldn't find the Seafood single. I'm sure it's very good.
Rowan at 9:1:4 Tuesday June 22 99
I might have known :<
guy at 2:57:10 Tuesday June 22 99
Hey everyone - http://web.ukonline.co.uk/guy.walsh/ check it out, it's all still under development and there's only one review there but get a whiff of it. I have a great feeling about it this time...
Rowan at 17:35:57 Sunday June 20 99
don't forget seafood keith! (I bet you'll end up hating it :)
Rowan at 17:35:21 Sunday June 20 99
obviously.
Guy at 23:38:40 Saturday June 19 99
obviously that should have read 'Fender', not 'guitar'
Guy at 23:37:51 Saturday June 19 99
Actually, at the minute I'm just looking to ba able to play something of theirs, all I can play at the minute is 'Cast No Shadow' by Oasis, and 'Pure' by the Lightning Seeds. However it's all on standy until my poor thumb recovers (ouch!). Do you know how painful it is?... having a £300 guitar in the corner of the room and not being able to play it?
Greg O'Keeffe. at 19:23:18 Thursday June 17 99
Just kidding, but I'd always harboured a desire to start a band and to use Weezer as my palette. Good luck with it though. I'd be interested to see how you adopt their dynamics, crucnchy guitars, harmonies etc. BTW MIAMI 7 IS BRILLIANT, JUST WATCH IT SOMEDAY. MIne's the one with black hair/olive skin, or the Denise vaouten lookalike. They were in bikini's again today. Or, so I was told anyway.
Guy at 17:10:30 Wednesday June 16 99
What do you mean the Weezer thing was your idea?
Greg. at 20:58:48 Tuesday June 15 99
Already got it. Fantastic. Don't need converting. See 'em on Jo whiley? Fantastic! How many times do you think I can incorporate the word fantastic into this? Fantastic.
Rowan at 20:40:11 Tuesday June 15 99
Got the new pavement album on saturday. It's really really good. But I guess I'm not going to convert any of you...
GREG O'KEEFFE at 20:36:9 Tuesday June 15 99
F**k off the Weezer thing was my idea, I patented it! And they've not split up yet either! We'll leave the sunscreen debate but I still like it. We agree on one thing 'Race for the Prize' is amazing. The U.S is hopefully outgrowing the ska-lite bollocks phase now, and producing a nice range of bands. Early Mercury Rev stuff is just as good, 'Carwash hair' is ace. MYLENE it could be worse, you could be trying to sit a history a-level with the bloody tune to 'The Lion sleeps tonight' floating around your head.
Guy at 18:1:6 Tuesday June 15 99
I do use a plectrum, but a broken thumb generally means you can't grip anything! Gay Dad are poo. Lit are a half-decent band, as are 'A'. So it's true about scotsmen being tight then Keith...
Rowan at 21:55:28 Monday June 14 99
The Flaming Lips single is great - really good, on of the best singles of the year I reckon. Please Keith, don't forget to review the Seafood single next week.
pACbOY at 14:35:33 Monday June 14 99
I finally see that you (headcleaner) guys are taking the cardigans seriously.
7/10 Lovefool? 5/10 been it? guys, you were too rude. But the new album is so cool, and it seems you've notice that.
By the way, any news about the release of Hanging Aorund, the third single? I mean, i know that's out, 'cause I've seen the video, I'm talking about the review.
Any cardifan, feel free to mail me. Any rap-bastars, please don't.
pACbOY
Ingo at 13:26:55 Monday June 14 99
I think Gay Dad's album is actually quite nice, though not overwhelming. Those five songs which were also released on their promo CD are quite nice,
but the other five are a bit boring. 7 out of 10 I would say. Btw, did anyone hear anything of the new SFA album yet?
Rowan at 15:40:27 Sunday June 13 99
Don't you use a plectrum Guy? You should do. I got the Pavement album yesterday and mighty fine it is. Also, I have a terrible confession to make: I actually think Gay Dad's music is fairly good. I actually quite enjoy 'joy' (excuse the pun or whatever) sorry. I'd never buy the album though. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
HeadCleaner at 0:4:47 Saturday June 12 99
Aye, well you've blown it now...
Guy at 23:41:11 Friday June 11 99
Watch out for my new band - the Helium Heads. I'm probably being a little optimistic as I've only been playing one week and I've now broken my thumb on my right (strumming) hand (b*****d it hurts!), but we'll be around by the end of the year. If you're wondering about the name, it's 'cos we're gonna be like Weezer, but none of us can sing high enough, so we're gonna inhale helium before we go on stage! That's all a load of crap I've just written by the way. We've only got one and a half guitar players. This message is rediculously long, I'm gonna end it now. No, not commit suicide, but this message. And all hope of recieving those prizes from Keith...
HeadCleaner at 21:54:22 Friday June 11 99
Possibly only topped by 21st Century Girls on TOTP tonight...
Mylene Jenius at 21:14:46 Friday June 11 99
I REALLY did not need their whiny stupid shrieking voices playing in my formroom before I went into a French exam, today, Keith. "I quit! I quit!" I bloody wish you would, you ugly whining little whores...
Greg O'Keeffe at 16:48:51 Friday June 11 99
Austin Powers : Intl. Man of Mystery was the best film of 1997, Austin Powers 2 will be the best of 99. He's a top character. 'Swingers' by Doug Liman is my all time favourite film.
HeadCleaner at 19:28:53 Wednesday June 9 99
Ah, Mylene - good to hear your voice of reason once again. Hepburn are indelibly crap, aren't they?
Mylene Jenius at 18:13:40 Wednesday June 9 99
I disagree, world's worst bands are Hepburn/Alanis Morrisette/Robbie Williams.
HeadCleaner at 17:22:57 Wednesday June 9 99
Welcome, readers, to muso's corner...
GREG at 17:2:16 Wednesday June 9 99
And valve amps are better (mines a fender hybrid)
Greg at 17:1:29 Wednesday June 9 99
Fantastic. I've got two guitars, they've got strings, and necks and stuff.
Guy at 15:35:46 Wednesday June 9 99
Yeah, I'm looking for something second-hand about 40-60 watts, depending on the price. I went back to a shop I visited today to buy a 60-watt amp for £65, but it had bloody well gone. Fixed my string though. Well, not fixed it, bought a new one. Well you know what I mean... and No, Kula Shaker are the worst band in the world.
Rowan at 20:5:36 Tuesday June 8 99
So, what type of amp are you getting? If I were you I'd get a secondhand valve amp. Nicer warmer tone. My life Story are rubbish but Hurricane #1 are the worst band ever.
HeadCleaner at 8:56:46 Tuesday June 8 99
Go easy on the grumpy pills Guy...!
Guy at 23:38:18 Monday June 7 99
Broke a bloody string on my guitar today. B-starred! Buying an amp this week, as well as a stand. So I can feel like a REAL musician. Oh, one more thing- 6 out of 10 for MY LIFE STORY? #!?@ing hell. What a load of unimaginative shite.
HeadCleaner at 19:37:8 Sunday June 6 99
Get pissed, destroy.
Greg O'Keeffe at 19:26:17 Sunday June 6 99
Don't read beauty magazines they'll only make you feel ugly.
Guy at 14:5:34 Saturday June 5 99
I look forward to it... It's a Fender Stratocaster, direct from Mexico. One of my flatmates (French, but don't hold that against him) brought it with him to sell. After trying for 6 months to sell it for £200, I bought it off him for £150. One of my other flatmates (Bass player, but don't hold that against him) is teaching me, Froggy can't play, he gave up and decided to stick to his bass. So far I can (almost) play The Riverboat Song, and Pure and Where Flowers Fade by the Lightning Seeds. Can't find any Silver Sun tabs on the internet though, help anyone?
Rowan at 23:20:27 Thursday June 3 99
By the way, did any of you check that URL I gave you? I found that when I put in the names of some friends from college, it really did work to a certain extent! strange...but true. I've just spend £260 on a Fender Telecaster Guy (to go with my £500 Fender Jaguar) I'll have some piccies of my guitars (and me) on the site pretty soon. I'll let you know when.
Rowan at 23:18:23 Thursday June 3 99
aha Guy - another guitarist on the page apart from me. What type of Fender is it? Keith, I hope you try to track down the Seafood single "easy path" which is out in a couple of weeks I believe. Also, I've made an attempt at a logo for my site having just aquired a friends copy of photoshop5. If you get round to one though, it'll probably be better than mine. Anyone heard much of Clinic? I think all their songs have been pretty cool actually.
Guy at 21:55:7 Wednesday June 2 99
And while we're on the subject of nudging Keith... those CDs? I'll have to give you a different address to send them to now, I'm out of halls in 1 month.
Guy at 21:54:3 Wednesday June 2 99
1) Travis's album is still shit. 2) FoW are excellent. 3) 21st century girls are shit. 4) I have just bought a Fender guitar and am learning very slowly. 5) Thank you.
HeadCleaner at 14:24:21 Wednesday June 2 99
You are as fat as you think you are.
Greg O'Keeffe at 13:43:10 Wednesday June 2 99
The actor who voiced the Lhurmann track was Australian, not American. And the advice in the song, whilst occassionally cloying, is in fact often quite relevant. It's not too self reverential (see the 'advice' line) and oft touching (about keeping in touch with your mates, not easy) Keep in mind 'Sunscreen' detractors that your main ally is Simon Mayo (draw your own conclusions). I won't rush out to buy it, but it's a million times better than 21st Century girls - which is embarassing. Yet, we've gone through all this before. It's all about opinions.
Rowan at 20:25:35 Monday May 31 99
Cheers Keith. I'm sorry to be asking you again and again but I remember how good the Idlewild one you did was. It'd be great if you could incorperate the Jaguar guitar on the side of the page into the logo. thanks.
HeadCleaner at 19:1:48 Monday May 31 99

take a look at this: http://www.kabalarians.com/gkh/your.htm
Rowan at 14:58:13 Saturday May 29 99
very over rated if you ask me. Keith, don't suppose you've started that logo yet have you :) sorry to keep asking.
HeadCleaner at 23:14:15 Friday May 28 99
You are indeed correct: there is only one Gail Porter...
Greg O at 13:28:17 Friday May 28 99
Oh well, lets be honest you're no Gail Porter! But seriously, you should consider buying 'Utopia Parkway' the new FoW album. It contains similarily pleasing tracks - and the poppy aspect of the band never gets annoying or twee. I'm off to oggle Jen from Dawson's Creak (sad I know!!)
HeadCleaner at 17:15:54 Thursday May 27 99
I'm not too sure I'm all that keen either, to be honest...nothing personal, of course...!
Greg. at 16:7:53 Thursday May 27 99
Of course I'm not too sure if you're other half would be so keen.
Greg. at 16:19:52 Wednesday May 26 99
Keith I want to Marry you!!!!! At last, I never thought I'd see the day, the best group in the U.S. finally given SOTW. Fountains are just brilliant, and quite comic, the line about taking the picture of easy rider, and looking like the guy from Korn.
HeadCleaner at 8:30:5 Wednesday May 26 99
Listen to it again without your rock prejudice and you'll find it to be a delicate and special thing. It is undeniable that early Travis rock-outs were influenced by the Britpop thing - if not specifically Oasis - and now they have left behind that dull baggage, they are leagues better. I agree with you about Glaswegians though...
Guy at 23:28:2 Tuesday May 25 99
Shite shite shite shite.... SHITE. There. You can post that as a review for the new Travis album Keith. It's about as detailed as I can be bothered to get. I was SOOOO disappointed. I thought that Driftwood and Writing to Reach You were excellent, but other than 'Why does it always rain on me' and maybe 'Turn', there's a distinct lack of originality on the entire album. The rockiest track is a hidden track @ the end (7:10 if you haven't already found it). I don't see how you can justify Travis ripping off Oasis with their rock stuff, it was 20 times more original and you can hardly say 'Happy' sounds like 'Tied to the 90's', like 'Stand By Me' sounds like 'Wonderwall'. There's no sign of this rock side of Travis on this album, thoughroly disappointing. Bloody glasweigens... (joke!)
HeadCleaner at 17:32:34 Sunday May 23 99
Mind you, I forgot about "All I Want To do Is Rock" - that was ace.
HeadCleaner at 20:29:52 Saturday May 22 99
Travis were decidedly uninteresting when doing the big rock thing (that they stole off Oasis)...now they're walking a mellower path, they're shining very brightly indeed.
Greg O'Keeffe. at 16:12:38 Saturday May 22 99
'The Man Who' has been receiving some complimentary reviews, but I fear a distinct lack of any rocky numbers. Even OK Computer featured big gargantuan riffs.
Rowan at 20:4:55 Thursday May 20 99
Thanks Keith, I'll look forward to it. Note the new email address too (again)
Guy at 23:45:21 Wednesday May 19 99
Appologies Adam, the review would have been up if I was still running my fanzine! It wasn't a negative review although it wasn't really my thing...
HeadCleaner at 22:44:13 Wednesday May 19 99
Rowan> Been incredibly busy - I'll do the logo when I can. Adam> Pay no attention to the MM review - Half Miler rock.
Guy at 22:47:14 Tuesday May 18 99
That can only be a good thing, one Radiohead's one too many...
Rowan at 22:19:5 Tuesday May 18 99
Perhaps in danger of trying to become Radiohead, but Travis will never be the next Radiohead.
Adam at 10:22:39 Tuesday May 18 99
Hi, prbly ducking me head into some argument over the size of Robbie Williams' underpants or whatever but thought i'd let everyone know that half miler, so lavishly reviewed in Keith's pages a while back, are now ON-LINE. all stations are go at half miler central. they're still playing around London so if you're around, go have a peek. the website address is http://members.tripod.com/~half_miler and lists upcoming gigs and where you can mail order the album. see ya
Guy at 0:13:8 Tuesday May 18 99
I think Travis are in danger of becoming Radiohead.
Rowan at 12:5:3 Saturday May 15 99
She hardly even sings on it - probably because she can't. urm...any news on the logo yet Keith? :)
HeadCleaner at 10:22:17 Friday May 14 99
That Lit song is pretty smart - cool video too. Not heard Feeder or Supergrass songs yet. SFA overstep that fine line between being surreal and annoying, so I declined to purchase their offering this week. And after all this talk of innovation, isn't Geri's single pretty innovative as far as the pop genre goes? I think so. So there.
Greg. at 21:36:16 Thursday May 13 99
Feeder's new song is ace. as is the song by 'Lit'
Rowan at 18:39:31 Thursday May 13 99
I don't think much of the new supergrass single
Guy at 13:32:1 Wednesday May 12 99
aaaaaaaagggggghhhhhh.... Geri's new single is SHITE. aaaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhhhh!
mark at 17:4:18 Tuesday May 11 99
Hey, Keith - no Super Furry Animals? "Northern Lites" is the best thing I've heard since, ooh, Kid Creole & The
Coconuts' Greatest Hits. Got to be better than Pavement, surely?
Rowan at 11:47:46 Tuesday May 11 99
Grrr...very funny :P, yes I think you should
HeadCleaner at 21:3:55 Monday May 10 99
So I should scrap that logo idea of Geri playing a Fender then?
Rowan at 20:33:25 Monday May 10 99
I CANNOT believe you gave the Geri song 8/10. I simply cannot.
Rowan at 10:25:51 Sunday May 9 99
Keith> oh right - well if it displays a static logo if you DONT have the plugin but does the fancy stuff if you DO then that is great! I've changed my mind :) any chance you can do a flash one :) Bon chance Mylene, je suis un francais genius...
Mylene Jenius at 18:7:13 Saturday May 8 99
Greg, are you mad?!?! It's got Tim Wheeler in it - NAKED!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....it also features him getting tied up in the shower by one of the girls. Niiiiice.
UM, anyway, today I have been shoppingf and have returned with a Ballroom single (one I already had, but it had an extra track which I had not heard before and was only 50p), new Stereophonics single (I love them), NME, Melody Maker, Oooberman single ("their first deleted single!!" squealed the old man behind the counter, excitedly) and Writing to Reach You bt Travis (gorgeous). And some trousers. And pens. Whoopee. And I have French speaking exam on Monday and drama practical on Tuesday. booohhoooo...scuse me, I'm off to revise and panic...
Greg. at 13:39:22 Saturday May 8 99
WHat do you all think of Ash's video for 'Numbskull' (basically Tim Wheeler in a NY hotel room having lots of compicated SM sex with two young girls). I think it sucks(hahahahaha). (you'd have to have seen the vid) Seriously though, it's crap. It's not saying anything.
HeadCleaner at 20:35:2 Friday May 7 99
Flash works quite neatly - if people don't have the plug-in, it's smart enough to detect that fact and display a static graphic in its place...having said that, you're probably right that Flash is a bit OTT for a logo.
Rowan at 19:43:39 Friday May 7 99
ce ce a white b/w would be good. I dunno about flash though - some people might not have the plug-in. Isn't that a bit ott for just a logo? I've just given the site a slight make over. I know you're very good at these logo things so I'm sure you'll do good, but just a .jpg will be great thanks.
Mylene at 21:25:59 Thursday May 6 99
Thanks for that Keith. I love Smack the Pony and the Kenickie mock-up was the best thing ever. Oh yeah and another of my hours was on M2 earlier and I didn't even know. Luckily I happened to turn on at the right time and only missed the first three videos (Ash and Charlatans). The rest, obviously, rocked.
Greg O at 20:2:39 Thursday May 6 99
Have you heard 'Everybody's free(to wear sunscreen)' by Baz Lurhmann? It's ace. Relevant to us all.
HeadCleaner at 23:28:39 Wednesday May 5 99
Rowan> I'll give it my best shot...white background, I take it? I've just recently got Flash for doing web animations. If you're very, very lucky I'll do you one of them too...
HeadCleaner at 23:24:55 Wednesday May 5 99
Mylene> Whether it was meant to be any of these bands or not, Napkin reminded me of Throwing Muses, Strawberry Switchblade, Huggy Bear, Altered Images and any other band to ever wear a flowery mini-skirt with pride. I must admit, I've been able to spot Smack The Pony's musical pastiches before pretty easily (their B*Witched one was spot on), but I couldn't pinpoint Napkin as being any specific band - rather a general "indie grrrl" band like they don't make any more...
Rowan at 18:41:6 Wednesday May 5 99
Hi, Keith, I need another favour (yeah, another one). I've done a little page about the fender jaguar guitar and I need a genius to design me a logo. Any chance you could point your browser at: http://www.freezone.co.uk/fender_jaguar/fender_jaguar.htm
If you'd be willing to have a go, let me know. cheers. by the way, note my email change.
On another note, I got a mogwai album - young team, it's brillllllliant.
sorry mylene, can't help you with that one.
Mylene at 18:27:9 Wednesday May 5 99
If anyone watches the fantastic Smack The Pony...can ANYONE tell me what band they were meant to be in their music pisstake on Friday? (the big rooftop one by Napkin, the three girls). No-one I know gets it... :(
Ingo at 13:54:45 Wednesday May 5 99
Hey Guy, a great effort for the Phonics to top this week's single reviews!
If I look at the competitors...
Rowan at 22:22:50 Tuesday May 4 99
Hehe, i've downloaded about 15 ALi G MP3 files on to my hard disk :) Infact I'm listening to the Ron Davis one as we speak...
Guy at 18:29:13 Tuesday May 4 99
Ok, Ok, I've just re-loaded and Keith has actually agreed with me (about the title track at least). Should've bought the second single as well with the money you saved, the acoustic version is fantastic! As are the acoustic b-sides 'In My Day', a sarcastic look at the old blokes who tell you how great their era was, in this case a sailor, and then rip you off for all you've got. Second b-side is 'Something in the Way', an acoustic cover of Nirvana's track. It's a little disappointing but makes the single great value for money. Sorry, I nearly forgot this wasn't my fanzine...
Guy at 18:23:8 Tuesday May 4 99
Just thouht I'd say now that the new Stereophonics single is fantastic and the b-sides are the best yet. Waiting for Keith to contradict me with the single reviews...
Guy at 18:3:2 Tuesday May 4 99
Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeespect Rrrrrowan! Cracking site innit?
HeadCleaner at 13:13:7 Monday May 3 99
Due to the holiday, single reviews will be up tomorrow night.
Greg O at 22:41:28 Sunday May 2 99
cool site Rowan cheers.

Hahahah I'm not the only one :) Make sure you all get Melody Maker this week.
Ali. at 14:25:30 Saturday May 1 99
Awight massive, Iz here wiv my main woman oo is a Feminist. So, do you fink dat it's ok to encourage your girlfriend to be a feminist? An maybe watch her?
Mylene at 20:38:17 Friday April 30 99
I love 11 oclock Show!! Ali G is hysterical, Mackenzie is beautiful. That's all I have to say on the matter.
Rowan at 23:12:40 Thursday April 29 99
Any of you guys watch the 11oclock show? Ali G is hilarious :)
Guy at 22:56:35 Thursday April 29 99
Wow! A sensible comment from Rowan. Yes you are allowed an opinion, and I respect what you're saying. Maybe I've misinterpreted some of your comments. Appologies. Getting back to music, Supergrass's new single sounds fantastic if a little predictable. Saw the Stereophonics on Friday, support band called the Crocketts were quite good. They got the fans warmed up really well, although they were a bit repetitous. A sort of cross between Eels, Symposium and Motorhead I suppose.
Greg O'Keeffe. at 18:48:15 Thursday April 29 99
The new Pavement single is fantastic. This is true. The new Supergrass single is vaguely amusing because, we can hear them 'humping on our stereo!' Here's one for ya (devilish laugh) I don't mind the barenaked ladies. ha.
HeadCleaner at 15:22:38 Thursday April 29 99
Ha...you can tell my Walkman's broken, can't you?? I'll put up my latest MP3 playlist instead!!
Ingo at 11:11:57 Thursday April 29 99
Btw, Keith, didn't you get bored of your compilation tape by now?
Ingo at 10:37:4 Thursday April 29 99
Sorry, the last Anon was me ;-) !
Anon at 10:36:8 Thursday April 29 99
I agree with Rowan on this point. Some of my friends like the Stereophonics, and why not? I find them boring because of their repetitious tunes, okay?
I said I would like the new Bis album, and some of my friends say it's kind of teenies' pop, do I argue? I even like this year's Kula Shaker album,
although the lyrics are religeous wank, the tunes are, erm, "borrowed" somewhere else and it sounds like 'Hair' revisited, but for me it works somehow.
Am I leaving the *righteous* path, therefore? I hope the discussion won't turn into that direction.
Rowan at 19:10:9 Wednesday April 28 99
Hey, I haven't said anything along those lines. I haven't said that Stereophoics are crap, I can appreciate why so many people would like them. They have catchy tunes and a good stadium rockish atmosphere about them. I don't see the point in trying to convince someone that their favourite band is crap. You can't really change someones opinion that easily, and I don't really want to. However, just for the record IN MY OPINION (am I allowed one?) Stereophonics are just too boring.
HeadCleaner at 9:20:29 Wednesday April 28 99
Ok...Stereophonics consistently underimpress with their limited vision, workmanlike songs and bordering-on-criminal statements along the lines of "we are a meat and potatoes kind of band". Bands making statements like that should be sent down the mines...
Guy at 9:6:41 Wednesday April 28 99
Keith, what's going on? Why the sudden Stereophonics slating? I'm not gonna get involved in any band slagging (apart from OCS and Kula Shaker obviously), 'cos I don't see the need. I feel some people's attitudes on this board are more than a little immature (Rowan, Andrew) "My favourite band's better than yours..." I prefer a well structured arguement to quotes such as "stereophonics are shit" and "shitophonics". Come on let's grow up and act like adults.
Rowan at 18:27:35 Tuesday April 27 99
Anyone heard the new pavement single 'carrot rope'? For my money it's brilliant. roll on May 10th (not least cos it's the day before my 18th birthday) :)
Rowan at 12:15:39 Sunday April 25 99
I'm afraid I stopped watching Sunset Beach after the 'Ben and Derek' storyline finished..
Mylene F. Jenius at 11:35:45 Sunday April 25 99
*laughs* Why did I miss those messages about me before? That's very funny. Yes, I should sort my life out, I have a hangover and two history essays to do. Oh joy. Anyway Neighbours rocks, so go away foo'. Obviously Sunset beach is better though (THE funniest TV show ever ever)
Rowan at 20:54:47 Saturday April 24 99
I think we could all fill yet another 'archived batch' with a list of bands who should be put down.
Anon at 20:51:26 Saturday April 24 99
Of course that would be Elliott Smith.
Greg O'Keeffe at 20:51:0 Saturday April 24 99
Honestly you should all check out any of the three Ellioot Smith solo albums they are all amazing. Personally, I'd recommend Either/or. The Pixies are fantastic. I think Space should be taken away and put down.
andrew at 18:15:47 Saturday April 24 99
new dEUS album is wonderful. 10 tracks, all fantastic. more ideas in one song on their album than there is in the entire shitophonics back catalogue.
