Muse, eh. A mere week ago I would have been screaming my hatred for them at you all and mocking you with asperity, but blatantly heard "Unintended" on the radio the other day and practically started crying cos it's so so so so gorgeous. Bah!! Not a Radiohead rip-off - for me, far more emotive and beautiful than anything Radiohead have done, and I'm a big RH fan as well. So, my opinion was changed a little...and then I went and grabbed an mp3 of "Sunburn" as well and was amazed that I have shunned them for so long!! My god. Well, still only heard those two songs but I am stunningly impressed! Curses, they played down here several times but I spurned them for my own foolish causes...oh indeed. Look how I curse!! Well, anyway. Greg (was it Greg?), when are they playing the Leadmill? Might try to make it to that one if I'm free of the burden of college via the gift of the holiday...haHA! Oh indeed.

ABOUT BLOODY TIME. I knew Weezer would eventually get the recognition they deserve. Alright, they are not earth shatteringly important, but when I bought 'Weezer' I couldn't stop playing it for months. 'Pinkerton' was criminally underatted. Apparently after a long sabattical (Rivers Cuomo went to College) they're working on a third album. This makes me very happy. I know Keith will be stifling yawns at the mention of such 'geek rock' (whoever thought of that tag should be shot) but put it this way: Buddy Holly or All the small things? And, Spike Jonze directed the Buddy Holly vid. Anybody get the impression I kinda like Weezer? Guy, I'm coming to Leicester and we're forming a Weezer covers band, can you do high harmonies??

The problem about Ooberman is that the geniuses at Radio One decided not to playlist Shorley Wall (which deserves at least B listing)
Hence, it won't get much airplay unless Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe play it voluntarily.
I saw them at the Leadmill in Sheffield last Saturday and they were superb. They do seem to have a pool of devoted fans now, which will be helpful.
It would be shit for such an optimistic band to split up becuase of a radio station.
Apparently Sophia burst into tears reading that poem once, she didn't do it at Sheffiled.
'Wasteland of souls' was good though.

Slipknot are.... they just annoy me now. Before i was willing to give them a chance, but why didn't they do something special on TFI? I was more impressed by Muse's performance last week. But Muse are an infinately better band anyway. So I should have expected it. Muse have the music and the show. I used to think Slipknot had the latter, but not anymore.

I have not bought a NEW album or single for many weeks - I've bought OLD albums I have wanted for ages, but nothing new. Hmmmm. NME and Melody Maker - there is rarely anything of interest to me....wait, I tell a lie, I bought "Don't Falter" by Mint Royale and the lovely lovely Lauren (my heroine). So hmmm. Even Catatonia released their greatest song and felt the need to destroy it via a horrible horrible remix (Karaoke Queen). I'm telling you, all you are wanting is to be listening to Japanese music. I am telling you!! It is the future! You must listen to cheesy cheesy idol singers and love them! LOVE THEM!! Well.......am I right? Or am I wrong? This debate has been had many times before, I know, but...wagh! My brain needs some good new music to function properly! It's not fair. At all.

SLIPKNOT - Having recently had to review 'Wait and bleed' by Slipknot I have come to the conclusion that they are fucking awful. Not punk in the slightest. No political or relevant message, just self-destructive redknecks with a fetsih for stupid masks. They really are laughable, and so 'big' for jumping off 20ft. balconies at their live shows. So whAT? With a bit of luck they'll all kill themselves on stage when they're next in 'the zone' man....Oh and the music. Third rate NiN. Still, as Alan Partridge once said, "I won't let it get to me." Glad to see a band like Travis, who were criticised from all corners pre99, finally getting the recognition they deserve. They may not see shapes when they argue, but their records have a quality to them which belies all your credibility nonsense. Plaintativenes? Magic? Who knows? But heres hoping album no.3 is just as good.

Is anyone aware that your 'Single of The Week' for 26 November - StarGirl's 'Here I Am' - is also available on The 'UK Kosovo Refugee Relief Volume Two' CD ?
The UKKRR CD's represent 26 of the UK's favourite Internet-based artists and donates ALL artist proceeds to the British Red Cross. Sales of the CD's have dried up slightly since the effective
end of the war in Kosovo, but the situation re: the refugees is *far* from over. Unfortunately, not all artists on the CD's promote the compilations as widely as would be hoped, preferring instead to sell their own product.
Anyway, on behalf of the other artists on the compilations and the British Red Cross, I'd would be extremely grateful if you could give either of our compilations a mention (or even better - a review), possibly in the context of Volume Two containing the StarGirl single ?

I just couldn't help popping in, coz that girl Karin had said it: dEUS. The best band of the rest of the world (non-UK, non-US...) easily. The Ideal Crash is thhe album of the year for me (closely followed by The Contino Sessions and Moby's Play). They've got all that's needed to be a great band, and if we lived in a fair and sensible world, they'd be one of the most popular bands out there. (but we don't - there are still people out there who don't like Radiohead, aren't they?_
