Our Heritage
Our Sport
Our English ancestors were swordfighters. And famously good at it. So good, they were were invited to Britain as mercenaries. They were initially based at Thanet.

Later in the 5th century, they put to the sword the native British government. All the native southern families fled the 'ferocious' Kent swordsmen for the safety of the imperial Roman mainland. They founded Britanny. Kent became the greatest of the early English kingdoms.

Over the years, sword fighting has developed into something of a martial art.

Nowadays we don't kill for our sport. We don't even draw blood. We wear protective clothing. And our sword tips record a hit electronically. There's still a bit of technique to handling a sword though, and it helps if you are not unfit (although some of us are!).
