JN5 Blue John Links page

This is a fictional course set in a real location in the derbyshire moors just outside the village of castleton. The name comes from a rare stone that is found in one of the caverns, blue john. The course itself is routed mainly on two large mountain hills either side of the one remaining pass through the valley, Winnats Pass, which climb 1300ft from its base. Many of the holes have been carved into the steep hillside. The course also Feature Peveril Castle that dates back to the 11th century, purchased on top of a mountain, surrounded on three sides by a sheer drop of over 100ft and the only remaining side requiring an all out assault up 45 to 60 degree slope over 1000 yards the castle was nether taken by any foe during its history and still stands today mainly intact. The keep can be seen from the 13,14 and 15th holes. Being at the end of the valley surrounded by mountains on all sides the wind is always gusting around the course, I have actually walked the hole course land plot area and it is one of the most harshest and bleakest spots to site a golf course, from the top of the hills on a good summers day hang gliders can often be seen launching into the valley. All the hole names are taken from round the area and its history.
