Bill
is a calming influence in the Wyse side, both with his composed
middle-order batting and his ‘Mr.Cool’ demeanour in the field. Can always be relied upon to give his all behind the stumps, but as
an umpire Bill can strike fear into any batsman with his quick index
finger. The club could not
function without his service as Fixture Secretary.

Murray
is Wyse's youngest player and has already established himself as a promising top order
batsman in the Sunday XI. His bowling also progressed in 2001 taking
several wickets with his ‘pies’. Murray
also continues to add to a bewildering number of nicknames - lock up
your granny!

Gippo
is something of a Wyse legend and has made a return to playing for the
club despite ‘retiring’ from the game. Pete brings his no-nonsense
approach to life to his cricket and is the veteran of several ‘frank
exchanges of view’ in the middle. Playing in the middle order rather
than opening these days he remains a useful bat as well as slip fielder
and all round entertainer. His bowling could become less occasional in
2002.

Dave
is one of the club’s jokers, but also one of its most determined
cricketers. A veteran of several
on-pitch skirmishes, he wears shin pads on the field in case there is
any trouble with the opposition. This
could make his elevation to Sunday skipper in 2002 all the more
interesting. His
hobbies include arm-wrestling and downing pints of Guinness in the
Maxwell. Shockingly won the Godden Builders Stonewall Batting award in
2001.
