Well, there's a definite nip in the air, the leaves are starting to go brown and that c word is looming up fast... okay, I won't mention it! Maybe it's the time of year or the fact that I haven't been too well lately but I am a bit low at the moment and have no enthusiasm for anything. Not helped by missing out on that promotion but never mind, at least I gave it a try. Perhaps some of you are feeling the same because I didn't receive many contributions this time. A heartfelt thanks to the few who did make the effort -- you know who you are. The day I don't get enough in to make a new issue will be the day I pack this thing in.

But dominating the news and all our thoughts is of course the horrific attack on America last week. How any so-called human being could do that to others is beyond my comprehension. I wish we could do something to help ease all the suffering but what is there to do? Except send our thoughts and prayers to our American friends and let them know we are thinking of them at this sad time. Let's hope they find a way of bringing those responsible to justice without further violence and deaths and in the meantime, count your blessings. What happened in New York makes our troubles seem very insignificant.
