Outward via TROUTBECK, KIRKSTONE PASS, ULLSWATER and the waterfall at AIRA FORCE, we aim for the towering bulk of BLENCATHRA and the remote Northern Fells. From St.Mungo's MUNGRISEDALE, we pass beneath CARROCK FELL'S hilltop Celtic Fort to the traditional Cumbrian villages of HESKET NEWMARKET and CALDBECK (renowned for the legendary huntsman JOHN PEEL).
Here we return to the lonely tracks at the back of SKIDDAW, England's 4th highest mountain. tantalising views across the SOLWAY FIRTH are replaced by the brooding North West Fells as we descend to BASSENTHWAITE.
Skirting DERWENTWATER along the slopes of Mrs.Tiggywinkle's CATBELLS,we reach the small hamlets of GRANGE and WATENDLATH.
Now we turn towards KESWICK and make our way home via CASTLERIGG STONE CIRCLE, ST.JOHNS -IN-THE-VALE and GRASMERE.
