Our tour first visits RYDAL(De Quincey) and GRASMERE(Wordsworth). We cross DUNMAIL RAISE to THIRLMERE and DERWENTWATER where we stop and wonder at the beauty of ASHNESS BRIDGE and SURPRISE VIEW.
After visiting the remote hamlet of WATENDLETH(Walpole), we drive deep into the mountains to SEATHWAITE, the wettest Habitation in England, then take the mighty HONISTER PASS to BUTTERMERE(Melvyn Bragg)
Continuing via CRUMMOCK WATER and NEWLANDS PASS, we reach BASSENTHWAITE(Tennyson), KESWICK(Coleridge/Southey) and CASTLERIGG 2500BC STONE CIRCLE(Keats).
After a short downhill walk to view the waterfall at AIRA FORCE, we pass beside ULLSWATER (where Wordsworth really saw the famous daffodils!!), BROTHERSWATER and over the KIRKSTONE PASS.
