"Cassie
Sponsorship Fund for Elderly and Terminally Sick Cats" At Lanarkshire Branch we have a
few cats that we have decided to foster permanently instead of
re-homing. This could be due to old age, a medical reason or
because another upheaval might really harm the cat.
How Can You Help?
To sponsor a cat - please send your name and address and a cheque for £12 payable to "Cats Protection Lanarkshire", PO Box 1927 Bellshill ML4 1YF Shadow is a new sponsor cat being cared for
in Lesmahagow.
Theo was brought
into the care of Lanarkshire Cats Protection with broken legs.Theo is being cared for by the mother of a volunteer in East Kilbride. Any sponsorship donations will be used to pamper Theo now he is progressing well and back up on his fet again. Pictured left
is Sultan chilling out on the window sill, and below is Sultan looking
after one of our kittens in care. The vet needed a 2nd opinion on Sultan so he had to go to the Royal Dick vet school in Edinburgh. Sultan had a cardiology consultation in summer 2004 and it turned out Sultan had a heart condition that was exactly the same as the Lanarkshire Branch co-ordinator! Sultan is affectionately nicknamed as Ted due to being like a big teddy! As Sultan is terminally ill he cannot be put up for re-homing, so donations are sought for his on-going care. ![]() To sponsor a cat - please send your name and address and a cheque for £12 payable to "Cats Protection Lanarkshire", PO Box 1927 Bellshill ML4 1YF The good news is Candice has now found a permanent home after being a sponsor cat for a couple of years in Bothwell. The vet gave Candice the all clear so thanks to our generous sponsors who paid for her extensive vet care, Candice can now enjoy proper home comforts. BACKGROUND
INFO:
Our Sponor A Cat initiative is called the "Cassie Sponsorship Fund for Elderly and Terminally Sick Cats" This scheme is named after a cat called Cassie who was also available for sponsorship in 2004. Cassie came into our care when neighbours complained to the landlord about loud miaowing, and as Cassie was deaf she had a loud cry. She was aged 18 and was featured in national "THE CAT" magazine and on this website, and dozens of sponsors came forward in March 2004. Tragically, just a month later Cassie collapsed and the vet found she had a tumour and had to put her to sleep. Her Fosterer Janey was devastated. As Cassie touched the lives of so many, we thought it appropriate our Sponsor Scheme should be named after her, so in the Autumn of 2004 the "Cassie Sponsorship Fund for Elderly and Terminally Sick Cats" was launched. |
