Although a compilation of selected writings from published authors on spiritual subjects is not new, I believe that when errors are found in those writings, they may serve to confuse or dispirit the reader. In such cases, scriptures may either have been quoted out of context to support an author's erroneous view or inaccurate translations of those scriptures given to support the personal beliefs of the editor.

In compiling this work, my sole aim has been to enlighten and spiritually upbuild the reader through the use of writings firmly supported by accurate translations of the Holy Scriptures. But, while quoting from writings from published authors, may I also add that I do not condone any erroneous teachings that these same authors may have written elsewhere.

Where possible, footnotes have been provided to clarify the meaning of certain words, or to give an alternative translation for the scripture being quoted. More than one Bible translation has been used in order to emphasize the intended spiritual meaning of those scriptures. The translations used in this book are:

The New English Bible (NEB)
The New World Translation (NWT)
The Moffatt Translation (Moffatt).
