JEALOUSY.

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show out of his fine conduct his works with a meekness that belongs to wisdom." "But if you are harbouring bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, consider whether your claims are not false, and a defiance of the truth... For with jealousy and ambition come disorder and evil of every kind." (James 3:13 NWT & 3:14,16 NEB).

"Can you not see that while there is jealousy(1) and strife among you, you are living on the purely human level of your lower nature?" (1 Cor 3:3 NEB).

"Anyone can see the kind of behaviour that belongs to the lower nature:... envy... selfish ambitions... jealousies... and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who behave in such ways will never inherit the kingdom of God." (From Gal 5:19-21 NEB).

"If anyone... will not give his mind to wholesome precepts --I mean those of our Lord Jesus Christ-- and to good religious teaching, I call him a pompous ignoramus. He is morbidly keen on mere verbal questions and quibbles, which give rise to jealousy... base suspicions, and endless wrangles: all typical of men who have let their reasoning become atrophied(2) and have lost grip of the truth." (From 1 Tim 6:3-5 NEB).

"Then away with all malice and deceit, away with all pretence and jealousy and recrimination of every kind!" "Form a longing for... the word, that through it you may grow to salvation." (From 1 Peter 2:1,2 NEB NWT).
