What is.Local.Online?
Local Online was set up to see whether helping more people to use the internet can be a first step towards a programme to help build a strong community. The area chosen was Oval and Stockwell.
At the time of writing, July 2006, we are attempting to review the situation. Here is a new page which explains where we are at the present: UK Online.
What follows is the original statement placed on this site when the project was launched.

The aim of Local Online is to help more people make effective use of the internet. Our plan is to find local solutions to the problem of bridging the digital divide.
We set up the Local Online partnership, led by Community Support, to develop activities for the North Lambeth area.
It has been very difficult to develop Local Online. One reason is that the Government has abandoned its plans to put all Government services online by 2005 and provide support for people wanting to use these services.
Also, we have not had resources to build links between the local organisations which have joined the partnership.
Follow the links below to get more of an idea about what we have been trying to do.
