Not as posh as Regent Street, but not bad eh? Christmas lights in Clapham Road, in the section near to Oval station, have now become a regular annual feature.This striking photo was taken by Peter Scott, who led the Oval Regeneration Programme project which raised funding for the first switch-on in 1998. Local shopkeepers and small firms chipped in to make it possible.
Lambeth Council deserve credit for providing support, but the idea started with local people!.
