Stockwell Bus Garage, on Landsdowne Way, is an example of modern architecture. Some people may be upset (or pleasantly surprised) to discover that it is a listed building! These photos were taken at the London Open House Day in September 2002. London Open House Day is a regular annual event when buildings and structures across London are opened to the public.

The arches have a large span, creating a large covered area that is not broken up by columns.

Stockwell Bus Garage - the time clock with detached radiator, 2002 (photo: Max Boucher)This photo was taken in the maintenance area. There are several inspection pits which allow bus repairs to be carried out from below. A radiator grille has been detached and is shown leaning against the wall. In the centre is the time clock where staff clock in and clock out - a traditional method used by management to control the punctuality of manual workers.
