During World War 2, on 15 September 1940, a German Dornier bomber was intercepted and brought down over central London. Part of the bomber landed in the forecourt of Victoria railway station. The German pilot landed by parachute near to the Oval cricket ground. Mentorn, the TV production company, is producing an hour-and-half-long live 'dig' near Victoria Station where the Hurricane flown by Sgt Ray Holmes crashed after ramming the bomber. A team of aviation archaeologists will be hoping to retrieve parts of the Hurricane believed to be buried in the street.
