February 2003 Sunday 16th Long time, no updates. There is an excuse: I haven't done much since October! Family commitments, cold weather, dark evenings etc. etc. Anyway, today I fine-tuned the exhaust mounting and started the engine up (just to make sure it still worked!). Tried a few gears and got the rear wheels turning at an indicated 40mph! There wasn't too much vibration which is encouraging. One concern is that the water temperature reading only seems to work once the engine reaches around 40°C. I adjusted the handbrake, which now comes on after three clicks. I was worried that where I had mounted the lever would interfere with the passenger seat mounts, but luckily the cable fits perfectly under the seat. Tested all the lights and my wife noticed that the NS brake light is not coming on. Blast! Must be something fairly simple though as the other one worked and they share a common feed. Must be the bulb or a connection near the lamp. Monday 17th Filled in my SVA form today! I have requested the 7th April at Nottingham SVA Test Station. I've chosen this station as Ilkeston-based Stuart Taylor Motorsport will need to fit a cat and I would like them to give the car a once over before it's tested. Tuesday 18th Well, the SVA form is in the post! |
