			Let's go back 20 years to the early 1980's. It was a very grim time, rationing had not long ended. But into this grey, monochrome world arrived my first milk bottle, advertising Kellogg's cornflakes. Its bold graphics and vivacious colours immediately struck me. The bright white, almost luminous, milk was a perfect background to set them off. Perhaps I've always been intrigued with printed matter on glass. Whatever, it was the start of a life long passion. The milkman arrived with an ever increasing variety of bottles and my collection grew. But it wasn't until the early 1990's that I decided to create a photographic document of them all. A friend liked the resulting pictures and asked me for some copies. She was still asking some years later, but it was always “one of those things” I was getting round to doing. In the spring of 2000, after another fruitless request from my friend, it suddenly occurred to me that I could scan the photos and email them to her. So began Milk Bottle Of The Week. Each week I chose photo of a bottle from the collection to email to a growing list of respondents. The response from people was so positive that the next logical step was to create a web site. But again it was always “one of those things” I was getting round to doing (can you see a behavioural pattern forming here?). Then at the beginning of 2001 I was knocked off my bicycle. As I lay in the gutter, fighting for my life, it crossed my mind that I still hadn't created the Milk Bottle Of The Week web site. After two months of recuperation I finally began to design and then build it. Which... brings us to the present day. Along the way there have been many people I'd like to thank for helping make Milk Bottle Of The Week happen.
