I have
been asked if I could contribute a short column every now
and again, letting you know of crime trends, what to look
out for and a little about crime prevention for your home
and possessions.
In the period between the beginning of June 2001 and the end
of December, some five crimes have been reported in the village.
Two of these were burglaries and the other three related to
vehicles, damage or theft from cars. On a positive note, when
1 checked the record for the same period last year (2000),
there were twenty reported crimes in Lubenham. Four of these
were burglaries, so it would seem that crime is heading in
the right direction.
On a crime prevention note, most of all thefts from motor
vehicles take place when the owner leaves the vehicle with
items such as mobile phones or brief cases on show. So please,
if you leave anything in your car, leave it out of sight.
There is a problem in the area surrounding the village with
'tack' burglaries. There have been at least five in the past
three weeks, with several saddles being stolen. If you do
own 'tack' please make sure the tack room is well secured
and consider putting extra security on the door. A simple
shed alarm, costing just a few pounds, might save hundreds
of pounds' worth of property.
If you do see anything which you consider suspicious please
report it to us. You can contact Leicestershire Police on
0116 222 2222. If you wish to leave a message for me my voice
mail number is 0116 248 5675. You will also need to enter,
when prompted to do so, my Beat number - 371 followed by the
hash key Please keep looking out for one another and help
the community keep criminals away.
