1940 ….. U.S.A ..... the FIRST of the "Road" films, Road to Singapore, starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, premiered in New York. Their female co-star was Dorothy Lamour. Other "Roads" taken in the series were to Zanzibar, Morocco, Utopia, Bali, Rio and Honk Kong and was the most lucrative sequence of films in movie history. Road to Bali was the FIRST in colour

1964 ….. U.S.A ..... Sydney Poitier became the FIRST negro to win an Oscar for Best Actor. The film was Lilies of the Field
