1907 ..... U.K ..... the FIRST purpose built cinema in Britain, Central Hall in Colne, was opened by Joshua Duckworth of the Premier Picture Company. It continued as a cinema until 1924 when it became a Spiritualist Chapel and later housed the robotics section of an engineering works
