1919 ..... U.K ..... passengers flew between London and Paris for the FIRST time. The flight took 3 hours 30 mins and the Farman F60 Goliath airplane flew at a speed of 97 mph. All the passengers were military as there was still a ban on civilians flying at this time
1940 ..... U.K .....“Starlighting” the Government approved system system of street lighting had its FIRST public lights in Salford in Chapel Street and it was decided to install the system on all bus routes in the city. The lights were designed so that they could not be seen from an aeroplane flying normal bombing height. However due to lack of funds it was postponed at one stage but nevertheless the FIRST stage was completed by the end of the year1964 ..... U.S.A .....
