1702 ..... U.K ..... the Daily Courant, the FIRST regular English daily newspaper, was published. It's editor was Elizabeth Mallet.  In due course the paper was sold to Samuel Buckley who absorbed it into his other newspaper The Gazette in 1735 and the Daily Courant name disappeared

1751 ..... U.K ..... the FIRST regular signed newspaper feature was by Dr John Hill who began contributing a daily column to the London Advertiser and Literary Gazette under the signature of " The Inspector"

1886 ..... U.S.A ..... the FIRST Indian woman to qualify as a doctor was Anandibai Joshee

1892 ..... U.K ..... the FIRST demonstration of cooking with an electric oven in Britain was at Newcastle-upon-Tyne

1992 ..... U.K ..... Frances Heaton took up the post as the FIRST woman Director General of the TakeOver Panel in its 24 year history. She later breached the all-male inner sanctum of the Bank of England by becoming the FIRST woman to be appointed to the Board of directors in its 299 years history 

1997..... U.K ..... Ann Widdecombe became the FIRST Prisons Minister to visit all the 129 jails in Britain
