1886 ..... U.S.A ..... the very FIRST Coca-Cola was brewed and sold as “Esteemed Brain Tonic and Intellectual Beverage”. Its chief ingredient was the leaves of the coca plant - the main source of cocaine 

1890 ..... U.K ..... William Townley of Blackburn Rovers became the FIRST player to score a hat trick in a FA Cup final as Sheffield Wednesday lost 6-1 at Kennington Oval 

1927 ..... U.K ..... Sir Henry Segrave became the FIRST driver to exceed 200 mph driving a 1,000 hp Sunbeam with an aircraft engine. He was also the FIRST motor racer to wear a crash helmet ( 1924 - Spanish Grand Prix)

1959 ..... U.K ..... The Navy Lark FIRST began on radio and ran for nearly nineteen years. Written by Laurie Wyman it was radio's most successful comedy sitcom and was inspired by television's popular Army Game. Stars included Leslie Phillips, Jon Pertwee, Dennis price, Ronnie Barker and Heather Chasen

1964 ..... Radio Caroline FIRST began broadcasting. Tony Blackburn, Emperor Rosko and Dave Lee Travis were some of the DJs who appeared on the station which was on air until March 20th 1980
